Padre Antonio Pozzato nacque a Sandrigo (Vicenza) il 23 ottobre 1907, ed entrò nell'Istituto Saveriano nel 1921. Com'era frequente in quei tempi, fu ammesso al noviziato dopo la quarta ginnasio e fece la professione religiosa il 29 agosto 1926. Fu ordinato sacerdote il 20 febbraio 1932 e, nel luglio dello stesso anno, partì per la Cina. Lavorò nella diocesi di Cheng-Chow e nel 1942, con altri confratelli, fu chiuso in campo di concentramento fino alla fine della guerra. Tornato in diocesi, fu incaricato della cristianità di Ts'ing Yuun Ly dove rimase fino al 1948. All'arrivo dei comunisti dovette allontanarsi e fu richiamato in Italia.
Lavorò nella casa di Udine dove ebbe vari incarichi: direzione spirituale, insegnamento, economia, ministero e animazione missionaria. Nella diocesi udinese lasciò ottimi ricordi.
Nel 1956 fu nominato superiore delegato della casa di Salerno dove si impegnò con successo alle pratiche per la costruzione della nostra nuova sede in quella città.
Il 21 gennaio 1958 partì per il Brasile dove svolse un lungo e fecondo apostolato nelle parrocchie di Lupianopolis e Pirajù. Nella vasta parrocchia di Lupianopolis, pur attendendo alle assorbenti attività pastorali, costruì due chiese, terminò il Collegio Mons. Conforti, la casa parrocchiale e un grande salone teatro. A Pirajù ampliò la casa parrocchiale, fece il presbiterio della chiesa e costruì un edificio per la formazione dei leaders e per l'assistenza vocazionale.
Tornato in Italia, fu rettore della casa di Tavernerio (1979-1982) e poi si ritirò nella casa di Vicenza dedicandosi al ministero sacerdotale e alla cura degli anziani nella casa di riposo del suo paese.
La morte, per infarto, lo colse la mattina del 3 marzo 1988. La sua salma riposa nel cimitero del paese natale.
Di lui si può dire che visse la sua vocazione senza risparmiarsi.

Fr. Antonio Pozzato died at the house of Vicenza on March 3 1988, of heart attack. He was 80 years old, born at Sandrigo (Vicenza) on Oct. 23 1907.
He entered the Xaverians at Vicenza in 1921, when he was 16. He continued his studies by joining the Novitiate at Parma in 1925, where he professed religious missionary vows on Aug. 29 1926. At the end of his theology studies, he was ordained priest on Feb. 20 1932, and after a few months, he departed for China in July 1932.
He served in the diocese of Cheng-chow, and was part of the ordeal of the Concentration Camp together with other Xaverians in 1942. At the end of the World War II, he continued to work in the diocese of Cheng-chow, serving the Christian community of Ts’ing Yuun Ly until 1948. As the communist regime was approaching his area, he was recalled back to Italy.
While in Italy, he worked at the new house in Udine as spiritual director, treasurer, professor, and in mission animation and ministry, leaving good memories among the many people he met there.
In 1956 he was named delegate superior of the house of Salerno where he committed himself in the building of the new apostolic school.
On Jan. 21 1958, Fr. Pozzato received a second assignment to Southern Brazil, where he worked for over 20 years in the parishes at Lupianopolis and Pirajů. In the vast area of Lupianopolis, besides pastoral activities, he also built two churches, followed the completion of the Bishop Conforti College, built the rectory and a large multi-purpose hall for parish activities. At Pirajů he also followed the construction of the rectory, the sanctuary of the church, and a large hall for the formation of leaders and vocational purposes.
Back in Italy, Fr. Pozzato served as rector of the house in Tavernerio for a three year term (1979-82) and then joined the community at Vicenza, working in pastoral ministry and caring for the nursing home patients at Sandrigo, his own native town.
Death knocked at the door of his heart in the morning of March 3 1988. He suffered a massive heart attack, and his remains were laid to rest in the cemetery of his native town. He lived his mission call by giving all of himself to the service of God and the church.
