NOTE BIOGRAFICHE DI P. GIUSEPPE BARDELLI (1937-2026)
Lunedì 29 giugno 2026, alle ore 06.00 a.m., ore locali, nella comunità del IV Piano, Casa Madre, è deceduto il nostro confratello p. Giuseppe Bardelli. P. Giuseppe aveva 88 anni compiuti essendo nato il 30 agosto 1937 a Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna, Italia.
P. Giuseppe proviene dal Seminario Vescovile di Piacenza dove frequenta le Scuole Medie Inferiori (1950-1955), le Scuole Medie Superiori (1955-1957), il Liceo Classico (1957-1960) e la Propedeutica (1960-1961). La vocazione missionaria risale al 1° anno di Liceo. Il primo Saveriano incontrato fu p. Dante Mainini.
Nonostante le reazioni negative di parenti e conoscenti, P. Giuseppe entra in Istituto il 29 settembre 1961, a Nizza Monferrato, dove vive l’anno di Noviziato. Il 3 ottobre 1962 emette la prima professione religiosa e missionaria a Parma.
Dal 1962 al 1966 è a Parma per la formazione Teologica. In questa tappa emette la Professione Perpetua a Piacenza il 18 settembre 1965. Viene ordinato presbitero nella cattedrale di Parma il 17 ottobre 1965.
Dopo l’ordinazione presbiterale viene destinato alla Casa Apostolica di Cremona dove svolge vari servizi: Direttore Spirituale, Promotore Vocazionale e incaricato delle Mostre.
Dopo un anno trascorso a Parigi per lo studio della lingua francese (1971-1972) viene destinato allo Zaire (l’attuale Repubblica Democratica del Congo). A Bukavu studia la lingua Swahili per poi lavorare a Fizi (1973-1974). Per motivi di salute, nel 1975 rientra in Italia dove rimarrà fino alla sua morte. In Italia svolge vari servizi:
- Incaricato delle Mostre a Piacenza (1975-1977)
- Incaricato delle Mostre a Parma – Casa Madre (1977-1982)
- Economo della Casa Madre-Parma (1977-1994; 1996-2001)
- Sostituto del Rettore della Casa Madre – Parma (1986-1989)
- Aiuto Economo della Casa Madre – Parma (1994-1996)
- Rettore della comunità Saveriana di San Pietro in Vincoli (2001-2007) e Animatore Missionario e Vocazionale (2001-2007)
- Economo della Comunità Saveriana di Ancona (2007-2021), animatore vocazionale e missionario e ministero (2010-2021)
- Sostituto del Rettore della Comunità Saveriana di Ancona (2011-2021).
Dal mese di febbraio 2023 si trova nella Comunità della Casa Madre – IV Piano, Parma, in cura.

Sono contento della chiacchierata fatta l’altra sera durante la cena. Ora tento di manifestarti il mio povero pensiero sull’argomento, di cui abbiamo parlato.
“In Omnibus Christus”; “Charitas Christi urget nos”; “Io guardavo Lui e Lui guardava me e mi sembrava che mi dicesse tante cose”. Questo è un vero e puro dialogo con Gesù, Verbo del Padre. Vale ad affermare che il Fondatore aveva scoperto che per dialogare doveva fare un bel “repulisti” dentro di sé, doveva essere spoglio di tutto, doveva essere “persona libera”. Solo operando così è stato capace di iniziare, continuare, realizzare, con la forza dello Spirito Santo, un dialogo profondo, aperto con l’Altro, che aveva scoperto già dentro di sé. Il Fondatore viveva di questa attesa e di questa attenzione. In altre parole, Guido era totalmente accogliente dell’Altro. Questo dialogo intimo e profondo è stato alimentato, nella docilità della mente e del cuore, con la PAROLA-PANE DI VITA. La mia vita Saveriana è caratterizzata da questa inscindibile unità…”. BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES ON FR. GIUSEPPE BARDELLI (1937–2026)
On Monday, June 29, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. local time, our confrere Fr. Giuseppe Bardelli passed away in the Xaverian community on the fourth floor of the Motherhouse. Fr. Giuseppe was 88 years old, having been born on August 30, 1937, in Piacenza, Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
Fr. Giuseppe came from the Diocesan Seminary of Piacenza, where he attended middle school (1950–1955), secondary school (1955–1957), classical high school (1957–1960), and the preparatory program (1960–1961). His missionary vocation dates back to his first year of high school. The first Xaverian he met was Fr. Dante Mainini.
Despite negative reactions from relatives and acquaintances, Fr. Giuseppe entered the Institute on September 29, 1961, in Nizza Monferrato, where he completed his Novitiate year. On October 3, 1962, he made his first religious and missionary profession in Parma.
From 1962 to 1966, he was in Parma for his theological formation. During this period, he made his Perpetual Profession in Piacenza on September 18, 1965. He was ordained to the priesthood in the Cathedral of Parma on October 17, 1965.
After his ordination to the priesthood, he was assigned to the Apostolic House in Cremona, where he served in a variety of roles: Spiritual Director, Vocation Director, and Director of the Missionary Exhibits.
After spending a year in Paris studying French (1971–1972), he was assigned to Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). He studied Swahili in Bukavu before serving in Fizi (1973–1974). For health reasons, he returned to Italy in 1975, where he remained until his death. In Italy, he carried out numerous responsibilities:
- Director of Missionary Exhibits in Piacenza (1975–1977)
- Director of Missionary Exhibits at the Motherhouse in Parma (1977–1982)
- Treasurer of the Motherhouse in Parma (1977–1994; 1996–2001)
- Assistant Rector of the Motherhouse in Parma (1986–1989)
- Assistant Treasurer of the Motherhouse in Parma (1994–1996)
- Rector of the Xaverian Community of San Pietro in Vincoli (2001–2007), Missionary and Vocational Animator (2001–2007)
- Treasurer of the Xaverian Community of Ancona (2007–2021), Ministry, Missionary and Vocational Animator (2010–2021)
- Assistant Rector of the Xaverian Community of Ancona (2011–2021).
Beginning in February 2023, Fr. Giuseppe resided in the Fourth-Floor community of the Xaverian Motherhouse in Parma, where he was receiving medical care.
Dearest Fr. Luigi Menegazzo,
I enjoyed our conversation the other evening over dinner. Now I’ll try to share with you my humble thoughts on the topic we discussed.
“In Omnibus Christus”; “Charitas Christi urget nos”; “I looked at Him, and He looked at me, and it seemed to me that He was telling me so many things.” This is a true and genuine dialogue with Jesus, the Word of the Father. It tells us that the Founder had discovered that, to enter into dialogue, he had to do a thorough “cleansing” within himself; he had to be stripped of everything; he had to become a truly “free person.”
Only in this way was he able, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to begin, sustain, and bring to fruition a profound, open dialogue with the Other, whom he had already discovered dwelling within himself. The Founder lived in this spirit of expectation and attentiveness. In other words, Guido was totally open and receptive to the Other. This intimate and profound dialogue was nourished, in the docility of mind and heart, by the WORD—THE BREAD OF LIFE. My own life as a Xaverian has been marked by this inseparable unity…”.
