Roma: prima di riprendere le visite alle Circoscrizioni, la Direzione Generale, dall’8 al 19 settembre, terrà Consiglio.
ANNIVERSARI
I due Regionali di Burundi e Congo informano: «Il 7 e 8 settembre ricorre il Primo Anniversario dell’uccisione delle Sorelle saveriane Lucia Pulici, Olga Raschietti e Bernardetta Boggian. Le comunità della missione stanno preparando diverse celebrazioni commemorative.
In particolare il 5 settembre a Kamenge sarà celebrata una Messa presieduta dal Vicario generale di Bujumbura. Seguirà la benedizione della prima pietra dei lavori di ristrutturazione della loro abitazione che diventerà centro di memoria, silenzio e preghiera».
Ci tengono a precisare, inoltre, che «Fare memoria dei martiri è come rivisitare i ‘tesori’ della nostra Famiglia Missionaria; anche se…
“presentando questi martiri, vorremmo evitare di cadere nella ‘retorica’ del martirio. La sua esaltazione rischia di presentare al non credente un’immagine falsa della fede, quasi che questa comportasse l’esaltazione del sacrificio in quanto tale. In realtà, ciò che si magnifica è la forza del bene. Ed è così difatti che il martirio diventa segno di speranza: esso mostra che la resistenza del bene è più tenace della violenza aggressiva del male”».

ANNIVERSARIES
The Regional Superiors of Burundi and Congo share with us the following: “September 7and 8 mark the first Anniversary of the killing of the three Xaverian Missionaries of Mary Lucia Pulici, Olga Raschietti, and Bernardetta Boggian. The communities of our missions there are in the process of preparing several celebrations to commemorate the event.
In particular on September 5, at Kamenge, a Mass will be celebrated, presided by the Vicar General of Bujumbura. Right after that there will be the blessing of the beginning of the restructuring of their house which will be converted in a center for prayer, silence, and memories.
They underline the fact that “To remember our martyrs is like re-visiting our Missionary Family’s ‘treasures’ even though… ‘by introducing our martyrs we would like to avoid falling into the rhetoric of martyrdom. By exalting it, we may run the risk of presenting to a non-believer a false image of our faith, as if it were to imply the exaltation of sacrifice itself. In reality, what is magnified is the power of goodness. That’s how martyrdom turns into a sign of hope: it shows that goodness’ endurance is by far stronger than evil’s aggressive violence.”

Our Confrere Alessio Crippa will be ordained a priest on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 5:00pm, in the parish church of St. Margherita in the city of Lissone.
