Alla vigilia del nuovo anno, desideriamo inviare i nostri più sentiti auguri a tutti i confratelli delle nostre circoscrizioni assicurando, soprattutto a coloro che ancora soffrono per la pandemia, la nostra vicinanza e sincera partecipazione. Grazie a Dio, la nostra regione è stata risparmiata dal Covid-19 e dalle sue drammatiche conseguenze. Sia durante la preparazione (Avvento) che durante il periodo delle celebrazioni del Natale, abbiamo potuto incontrare tutte le nostre comunità cristiane, condividendo con loro le gioie del Natale e le sofferenze per la difficile situazione economica che il paese sta attraversando. 

Abbiamo poi vissuto alcuni momenti molto preziosi di vita comunitaria: l’arrivo nella nostra regione del confratello p. Abi Evanius s.x., proveniente dall’Indonesia dove ha ricevuto l’ordinazione presbiterale. Dopo lunghe peripezie causate anche dalla quarantena obbligatoria, soprattutto per i pochi stranieri in arrivo in Burundi, finalmente abbiamo potuto abbracciarlo. L’ordinazione presbiterale del nostro confratello p. Arcade Irakiza s.x., nella sua parrocchia di Rutovu. È il settimo confratello sacerdote Burundese.  Anche lui ha dovuto penare non poco per raggiungere la sua terra d’origine, proveniente dal Cameroun. Ora si sta preparando a continuare la sua consacrazione missionaria nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo, sua nuova destinazione. (Mario Pulcini s.x.)

On the eve of the New Year, we would like to send our warmest wishes to all the Confreres of our Regions, ensuring, especially those who are suffering from the epidemic, our closeness and sincere participation.  Thank God, our Region has been spared by Covid-19 and its dramatic consequences.  Both during the preparation (Advent) and during the Christmas celebration period, we were able to meet all our Christian communities, sharing with them the joys of Christmas and the sufferings for the difficult situation that the country is going through.

We then experienced some very precious moments of community life:  the arrival in our Region of our brother Fr. Abi Evanius, s.x., coming from Indonesia, where he received his Ordination to the Priesthood.  After various and long difficulties caused by the mandatory quarantine, especially for the new foreigners arriving in Burundi, we are finally able to embrace each other.  The Priestly Ordination of our confrere Fr. Arcade Irakiza, s.x. in his parish of Rutovu.  He is the seventh Xaverian  Burundian Priest.  Also Fr. Arcade Irakiza had to wait a long time  to reach his homeland, coming from Cameroun.  Fr. Arcade is now preparing to continue his mission ministry in the Democratic Republic of Congo, his new assignment.  (Fr. Mario Pulcini, s.x.)
