Durante il tempo dell’Avvento, le comunità che compongono la Parrocchia “Saint Pierre et Saint Paul” di Bitkine si preparano a celebrare Natale vivendo una giornata intera di incontro-ritiro. Alla fine, celebreremo il Sacramento della Riconciliazione e l’Eucaristia. Il tema del ritiro è: l’impegno cristiano. Il tema scelto manifesta la preoccupazione principale che abbiamo dall’inizio delle attività pastorali di questo anno 2021-2022. L’importante presenza dei fedeli di religione islamica, ci sprona ad impegnarci con maggiore coraggio affinché la comunità cristiana cresca nella fede e in Colui che ci riunisce. Ispirandoci alla Lettera ai Romani 6,1-13, come cristiani ci sentiamo chiamati ad impegnarci a vivere il dono della fede facendo dei gesti concreti di comunione, partecipazione e testimonianza. Non tutte le 32 comunità della parrocchia partecipano a questo ritiro. Purtroppo, questa buona abitudine è stata dimenticata da un buon numero di comunità, soprattutto quelle più lontane dal centro della parrocchia. Questo è un segno visibile che il lavoro pastorale è sempre lì: mantenere viva la fiamma della fede e rinnovare costantemente il coraggio di credere compiendo dei gesti concreti: la forza della preghiera, la carità operosa, e il servizio-aiuto ad ogni fratello e sorella nella stessa umanità. Il Signore ci invita ad alzare il capo. Abbiamo il dono del tempo per continuare con impegno e fiducia. Che la grazia della nascita del Salvatore continui a mantenere la forza e lo zelo per servire là dove la Sua Stella indica di inchinarci. Buon Natale a tutti. (François-Xavier Sadono Agung sx)

During Advent season, the communities forming the Saint Pierre et Saint Paul Parish of Bitkine prepare to celebrate Christmas by spending one whole day together on retreat. At the end of the day, we will celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Theme of the retreat is Christian Commitment. The choice of theme reveals what has been our main concern since the beginning of the pastoral activities in this year 2021-2022. The conspicuous presence around us of believers in Islam prompts us to work with renewed courage for the Christian community, for the growth of her faith and unity in the One who gathers us. Inspired by the Letter to the Romans (6:1-13), we Christians commit ourselves to living out our faith through concrete signs of communion, participation and witness. Not all the Parish’s 32 communities take part in this retreat. Unfortunately, a good number of communities, especially those far from the parish centre, have forgotten this good tradition. This fact is a reminder of the need for continuous pastoral ministry. We are called to keep alive the flame of faith and keep renewing the courage to believe through concrete actions: prayer, charity and service to each brother and sister of our common human family. The Lord invites us to raise our eyes and look beyond. We have plenty of time in front of us to keep trying with hard work and confidence. May the grace of the Redeemer’s birth continue giving us all strength and zeal to serve Him wherever His Star shows us the place to kneel down. Merry Christmas to all.
