Sabato 23 ottobre 2021- decimo anniversario della Canonizzazione di San Guido Maria Conforti- nella Cattedrale di Parma ha luogo una celebrazione Eucaristica presieduta dal vescovo Enrico Solmi, quinto successore del Conforti in Diocesi. Al termine, nella Cappella dei Caduti Parmigiani della Prima Guerra Mondiale, memoriale voluto dal Conforti negli anni 1918-1923 e realizzato ad opera del pittore marchigiano Biagio Biagetti e restaurato per la circostanza, viene esposta alla permanente venerazione dei fedeli la reliquia del braccio del Santo Vescovo di Parma e Fondatore dei Saveriani.

La reliquia consiste in una pregiata teca, lavorata dal sacerdote artista di Caserta, Battista Marello nel dicembre 2011, che racchiude il braccio destro con la mano del Conforti. La reliquia è stata data alla Cattedrale di Parma nel 1996, in occasione della Beatificazione di San Guido Maria, in adempimento alla richiesta dei Canonici di Parma nel 1942, allorché i resti del Conforti furono traslati alla Casa Madre Saveriana, ove egli desiderava essere sepolto (8 giugno 1907) accanto al primo suo Missionario (p. Caio Rastelli sx) che ha sacrificato generosamente la vita per Cristo. Accanto alla reliquia viene esposto il volto più bello del Conforti, rappresentato dal quadro ad olio del pittore Massimiliano Gallelli eseguito a Cremona nel 1951 e dato recentemente in omaggio alla Diocesi di Parma dall'Istituto Saveriano. On Saturday, October 23^rd, 2021, tenth anniversary of the canonization of St. Guido Maria Conforti, a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Enrico Solmi, the fifth successor of Conforti as diocesan bishop, will take place in the Cathedral of Parma. After the celebration, the relic of the arm of the saint, bishop of Parma and founder of the Xaverians, will be exposed for the veneration of the faithful in the Chapel of the Parmesan Fallen Soldiers of World War I. This chapel, which Conforti had been thinking about in the years 1918-1923, was then realized by the Marchigiano painter Biagio Biagetti and has been restored for this occasion.

The relic, consisting of Conforti’s right arm and hand, is enclosed in a precious reliquary created in 2011 by Battista Marello, an artist and priest from Caserta. The relic was given to the Cathedral of Parma in 1996, on the occasion of St Guido Maria’s beatification and in compliance with the request made by the Canons of Parma in 1942, the year when Conforti’s remains were translated to the Xaverian Mother House where he wished (June 8^th, 1907) to be buried along with his first Missionary (i.e., Fr. Caio Rastelli s.x.) who had generously sacrificed his life for Christ. The most beautiful image of Conforti’s face, an oil painting by painter Massimiliano Gallelli will be placed next to the relic. The painting, realised in Cremona in 1951, has been recently given by the Xaverian Institute as a homage to the Diocese of Parma. (Ermanno Ferro s.x.)
