La partecipazione reale del Fondatore alla vita della nostra famiglia missionaria si rende continuamente presente in maniere diverse. Una conferma di ciò ci è giunta in questi giorni attraverso un membro molto giovane della stessa famiglia Conforti. Laura Manganelli Conforti è avvocato, vive a Roma e si sta preparando a sostenere l’esame di stato per accedere alla magistratura. Pur essendo molto presa dagli impegni della propria professione, dedica energie e tempo per il servizio verso i più bisognosi come membro del gruppo “service” del Rotary Club di Roma. Laura conosce da tempo i Saveriani. Lei e la sua famiglia hanno avuto un legame particolare con p. Guglielmo Camera sx. L’affetto per il suo santo pro-prozio, Mons. Conforti, e l’amicizia verso i saveriani in questi ultimi tempi l’hanno spinta ad avvicinarsi di più alla nostra comunità di viale Vaticano. Ed è col desiderio di fare qualcosa per i Saveriani e la loro missione che in questi mesi ha lavorato sodo per presentare al Rotary Club di Roma un progetto di aiuto alla Sierra Leone. Ogni anno il Rotary Club assegna dei finanziamenti per sostenere attività di carattere sociale, culturale, educativo e umanitario. Il risultato delle petizioni non è scontato perché molti altri enti e associazioni ogni volta presentano progetti e iniziative molto significative. Eppure, il Rotary ha scelto, al primo colpo, il progetto elaborato da Laura per sostenere l’Holy Spirit Hospital della diocesi di Makeni.

Da qualche tempo, Laura partecipa all’eucaristia domenicale della comunità della casa generalizia e spesso si ferma a fare colazione con la stessa comunità. Con molto entusiasmo, la scorsa domenica, durante la colazione, Laura ha comunicato il risultato della sua iniziativa. La sua soddisfazione non sta tanto nel vedere coronato il proprio impegno, bensì nel poter in questo modo contribuire alla missione dei Saveriani e promuovere il loro carisma. E noi diciamo che in questo non è stata sola: lo zio San Guido le ha dato di sicuro una mano. 

The Founder’s real participation in the life of our missionary family continues manifesting itself in different ways. Recently, we have received a confirmation of this fact through a very young member of the same Conforti family. Ms. Laura Manganelli Conforti is a lawyer; she lives in Rome and is preparing to take the state exam to enter the judiciary. While being very busy in her profession, she devotes energy and time to serving those most in need as a member of the Rotary Club’s “service” group in Rome. Laura has known the Xaverians for a long time.  She and her family had a special bond with Fr. Guglielmo Camera, s.x. Her affection for her holy great-great-uncle, Mons. Conforti, and the friendship towards the Xaverians in recent times pushed her to get closer to our community of Viale Vaticano. And it is with the desire to do something for the Xaverians and their mission that in the past few months she has worked hard to present to the Rotary Club of Rome a project to help our mission in Sierra Leone. Each year, the Rotary Club allocates funding to support social, cultural, educational and humanitarian activities. The result of requests is not a foregone conclusion. Many other bodies and associations, each time, submit very significant projects and initiatives. The Rotary chose, at the first attempt, Laura’s plan to support The Holy Spirit Hospital of the Diocese of Makeni, Sierra Leone. For some time, Laura has been participating in the Sunday Eucharist in the chapel of the General Direction House in Viale Vaticano, and often stops to have breakfast with the same community. Last Sunday, during breakfast, Laura communicated with great enthusiasm the result of her initiative. Her satisfaction lies not so much in seeing her commitment crowned, but in being able in this way to contribute “to the mission of the Xaverians and promote their charism”. And we say that Laura was not alone in this commitment:  Uncle St. Guido certainly gave her a hand.
