Venerdì 11 marzo 2022 ricorreva il 10° anniversario dell’assassinio del nostro fratello Imad Ibn Ziaten in Francia. Originario di M’diq,  Imad Ibn Ziaten era un sottufficiale del primo reggimento di paracadutisti. Sua madre, Madame Latifa, insieme alla sua famiglia, ai suoi amici e conoscenti del Marocco e della Francia e di altri paesi, hanno commemorato questo decennio con un momento di preghiera sulla sua tomba, seguito da una serata fraterna. La preghiera sulla sua tomba è stata guidata dall'Imam della Grande Moschea di Fnideq, accompagnato da diversi altri Imam. I fiori sono stati deposti sulla sua tomba da varie persone e confessioni religiose presenti (ebrei, cristiani e musulmani). La comunità cristiana di M’diq era rappresentata da Rosa Martínez, fedele della Cappella di San Francesco d’Assisi e dai tre Saveriani che accompagnano la comunità. La preghiera musulmana, cantata in arabo, ha dato parola ai cuori di esprimersi nonostante le differenze religiose e culturali della grande folla riunita intorno alla tomba. Il lancio delle colombe ha manifestato il desiderio di pace, di fratellanza universale e di amore che va oltre la morte.

Per i Missionari Saveriani, è stato un momento di grande testimonianza di fede: la fraternità con gli imam. Abbiamo trascorso tutta la serata e la veglia insieme, chiacchierando, parlando nel rispetto reciproco e sincero senza tabù o protocolli. Un fedele musulmano ha espresso la sua gioia nel vedere preti e imam seduti attorno allo stesso tavolo con un volto sorridente e fraterno, viaggiando nella stessa automobile e condividendo lo stesso pasto. Tutti dicendo “bismillah”: nel nome di Dio. Che Dio, il Clemente e Misericordioso, sia lodato per sempre. (François Saleh Moll sx)

Friday, March 11^th, 2022, marked the 10^th anniversary of the murder in France of our brother Imad Ibn Ziaten. Born in M’diq, Imad Ibn Ziaten was a non-commissioned officer in the 1^st parachute regiment. His mother, Mrs Latifa, together with her family, friends and acquaintances in Morocco, France and other countries, commemorated the passing of these ten years with a moment of prayer on his tomb, which was followed by an evening of fraternity. The prayer was led by the Imam of Fnideq Great Mosque, and accompanied by many other Imams. Various people of different religious denominations present at the prayer (Jews, Christians and Moslems) placed flowers on the tomb. The Christian community of M’diq was represented by Rosa Martín, a faithful from the St Francis of Assisi Chapel, e the three Xaverians that serve the community in M’diq. The Moslem prayer, which was sung in Arabic, well expressed the sentiments in the hearts of those present despite the religious and cultural differences of that large crowd gathered around the tomb. Doves were set free to fly, manifesting a common wish for peace, universal brotherhood and love that lives beyond death.

For the Xaverian missionaries, this has been a moment of great faith witness: fraternity with the Imams. We spent the entire evening and the vigil of prayer together, chatting, speaking in mutual respect, with sincerity and without taboos or formalities. A Moslem faithful rejoiced in observing priests and imams seated around the same table, with smiles and expressions of brotherhood in their faces, travelling on the same car and sharing the same meal. There, the common refrain was bismillah – “in the name of God”. May God, the Clement and Merciful One, be praised for ever. (François Saleh Moll s.x.)
