“…Abbiamo iniziato i lavori con un’introduzione di p. Mauro Loda sulla ‘grammatica Saveriana sull’economia’. È stato presentato un excursus storico a partire da quello che già il XVI Capitolo Generale aveva definito come ‘il magistero Saveriano dell’economia’. Iniziando, perciò, dal pensiero del Fondatore, siamo risaliti fino all’ultimo Capitolo Generale per ricostruire una sintesi che illustrasse i passaggi più importanti sulla dimensione della povertà e sull’uso dei beni materiali nella storia Saveriana. Vogliamo, qui, ricordare le parole pronunciate da p. Luigi Menegazzo sx in occasione del Convegno degli Economi del 2016: “L’onestà, l’osservanza delle leggi, il non attaccamento al denaro, la libertà dall’ingordigia di maggiori proventi, il sentimento di gratitudine verso coloro che ci aiutano economicamente, sono attitudini che in un Saveriano devono essere necessariamente presenti come nostro stile…”

I° MEETING OF THE GENERAL COMMISSION FOR ECONOMY: FINAL MESSAGE
Excerpt from the Final Message
“...We began our work with an introduction by Fr. Mauro Loda on the ‘Xaverian grammar of economy’. A historical excursus was presented, starting from what the 16th General Chapter had already defined as ‘the Xaverian magisterium on economy.’ In other words, beginning from the Founder’s thought, we moved up to the last General Chapter, and made a summary illustrating the most important passages on the dimension of poverty and the use of material goods in Xaverian history. We would like, here, to recall the words Fr. Luigi Menegazzo s.x. pronounced on the occasion of the Bursars’ Meeting in 2016: ‘Honesty, observance of laws, detachment from money, freedom from the greed for greater proceeds, sense of gratitude towards those who help us economically: these are attitudes that in a Xaverian must necessarily be present for they are integral to our style...’.”
