Yagoua, 13 maggio: è stato revocato l’obbligo della scorta in città a Yagoua, mentre è stata mantenuta se si viaggia fuori dal perimetro urbano. Via telefono il Nunzio Apostolico ha assicurato che quanto prima si ritornerà alle misure di protezione vigenti fino al febbraio 2014. Si spera che il Governo decida in questo senso.
INDONESIA
Nella recente visita ai confratelli dell’Indonesia i due visitatori della DG hanno potuto ammirare il Bandar Monaci: il canale di km 1,100 che collega Siberut al Golfo di Katurei evitando la circumnavigazione di una penisola che richiede un paio d’ore di barca a motore. Il canale è stato realizzato tra il 1987 e il 1990 da P. Monaci con l'aiuto dei ragazzi del convitto e della Scuola della Parrocchia di Siberut. Per aprire il passaggio nella foresta pluviale e scavare il terreno solido e paludoso si sono usati maceti e zappe! Al confratello era stato conferita una onorificenza dal Presidente della Repubblica Indonesiana. Ma il giorno della consegna non si trovò una nave che lo potesse portare da Siberut a Padang.
MOZAMBICO
Chemba: dal 2002 i Saveriani gestiscono la scuola secondaria della parrocchia S. Teresa del Bambin Gesù. Ci studiano 800 studenti suddivisi in tre turni. Molti vengono dai villaggi distanti e si costruiscono una capanna dove vivono durante l’intero anno scolastico che comincia a febbraio e termina a novembre. È riconosciuta dallo Stato che paga i professori, mentre noi assicuriamo la manutenzione della struttura e il materiale didattico. Come amministratori possiamo intervenire nel progetto educativo.

Yagoua, 13 May: the obligation to travel with a body guard within the city of Yagoua has been revoked and now applies only to journeys beyond the city boundaries. In a telephone call, the Apostolic Nuncio said that the protection measures in force until February 2014 will be reinstated as soon as possible. It is hoped that the Government will take this decision.
INDONESIA
During their recent visit to the confreres of Indonesia, the two visitors from the General Direction admired the Bandar Monaci, a canal that stretches along 1.100 kilometers and connects Siberut to the Gulf of Katurei, avoiding the necessity of circumnavigating a peninsula that entails a couple of hours by motor boat. The canal was built between 1987 and 1990 by Fr. Monaci, with the help of the young students of the boarding school and the parish school of Siberut. They used machetes and hoes to carve their way through the rain forest and dig through the solid and swampy terrain! The President of Indonesia conferred an honor on our confrere, but on the day of the award ceremony, they were unable to find a boat to take him from Siberut to Padang.
MOZAMBIQUE
Chemba: the Xaverians have been running the secondary school of the parish of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus since the year 2002. (800 students study there in three shifts. Many come from distant villages and they build huts where they dwell during the entire academic year, which begins in February and ends in November. The school is recognized by the State, which pays the teachers’ salaries, while the Xaverians attend to the maintenance of the building and didactic resources. As administrators we the right to intervene in theschool’s educational program.
