Tutti i Delegati al XVIII Capitolo Generale sono già arrivati nella RDC. Un buon numero dei partecipanti è arrivato a Bukavu via Goma, la città del vulcano Nyiragongo. Da Goma sono giunti a Bukavu in battello lungo il lago Kivu, uno dei grandi laghi africani. Un altro gruppo è arrivato a Bukavu via Bujumbura, situata sul lago Tanganica, Burundi.

Venerdì 30 giugno 2023, i Capitolari hanno dedicato un tempo ad alcune dinamiche di gruppo per favorire la conoscenza reciproca e la presentazione dei luoghi di provenienza. Questo spazio è stato animato dalla suora congolese Godelive Maheshe, (Figlie di Nostra Signora della Misericordia di Savona). 

Nel pomeriggio di venerdì 30 giugno 2023, il Signor Pascal Nshombo, sociologo, ha presentato ai partecipanti al XVIII Capitolo Generale la situazione sociopolitica della nazione che ospita l’assise. L’obbiettivo è quello di permettere ai confratelli  di conoscere meglio il contesto in cui lavoreranno e rifletteranno insieme.

Sabato 1° luglio 2023, in mattinata, il XVIII Capitolo Generale sarà introdotto da un tempo di preghiera, riflessione e meditazione, guidato da p. Philippe Kitenge, superiore provinciale dei padri Barnabiti della RDC e del Rwanda. 

Sabato pomeriggio 1° luglio 2023, alle 15.00 di Bukavu, inizierà ufficialmente il XVIII Capitolo Generale. Il Direttorio prevede l’appello di ogni singolo capitolare e la solenne dichiarazione dell'apertura del CG annunciata dal Superiore Generale in qualità di presidente. Seguirà l'elezione del Comitato del Capitolo Generale: il segretario del Capitolo, i moderatori, gli scrutatori, e i servizi che l’assise riterrà opportuno indicare. 

Concluso l’iter preliminare, i Capitolari ascolteranno le relazioni preparate dalle Circoscrizioni.

All the Delegates to the XVIII General Chapter have already reached the DRC. Many of them arrived in Bukavu via Goma, the city of Volcano Nyragongo. They did the trip from Goma to Bukavu on a boat along Lake Kivu, one of the great African lakes. Another group of Delegates arrived in Bukavu via Bujumbura, which is located in Burundi, on the shore of Tanganyica Lake. 

On Friday, June 30^th, 2023, the Chapter Fathers dedicated a period of time to some group activities to facilitate self-introduction and the presentation of one’s place of origin. This activity was led by Congolese Sr. Godelive Maheshe (Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy from Savona).

On Friday afternoon, June 30^th, Mr Pascal Nshombo, a sociologist, introduced the socio-political situation of the host country to the participants of XVIII General Chapter. Purpose of the presentation was to allow confreres a better appreciation of the context in which they are going to work and reflect together. 

On Saturday morning, July 1^st, as an introduction to the XVIII General Chapter, there will be a time for prayer, reflection and meditation led by Fr. Philippe Kitenge, Provincial Superior of the Barnabites in DRC and Rwanda. 

On Saturday afternoon, July 1^st, at 3:00 local time, the XVIII General Chapter will officially commence. As stipulated by the Directory, a roll-call of each chapter delegate shall be hold; then, the Superior General, in his capacity as president, will solemnly declare the chapter open. Following, the election of the Committee of the General Chapter will take place; this includes the election of the Chapter Secretary, the moderators, the tellers and other services the chapter assembly will deem necessary.   

Once these preliminary procedures will be completed, the Chapter delegates will listen to the Circumscriptions’ reports.
