Condividiamo l’intervento del Superiore Generale durante la celebrazione della benedizione del sepolcro che custodisce i resti mortali del nostro confratello, Giovanni Gazza, traslati dalla Villetta di Parma alla Chiesa Cattedrale di Aversa, Italia, dove fu vescovo dal 1980 al 1993.
Il sepolcro è collocato nel Transetto Nord della Cattedrale San Paolo – tra la Cappella del Santissimo Sacramento e la Santa Casa di Loreto – sovrastato da un dipinto trecentesco della “Madonna cha allatta Gesù Bambino”.
“A noi Missionari Saveriani e a tutti, ha lasciato un ricordo vivo della sua grande fede, della sua devozione alla Madonna, della sua bontà paterna, del suo amore per la Famiglia Saveriana e della sua costante dedizione all’apostolato missionario…”.

CATHEDRAL OF AVERSA, ITALY – BLESSING OF THE TOMB OF BISHOP GIOVANNI GAZZA S.X.: Address by the Superior General (December 6th, 2025)
Below is the speech delivered by the Superior General during the celebration for the blessing of the tomb of our confrere Giovanni Gazza, whose remains was transferred from the Villetta Cemetery in Parma to the Cathedral Church of Aversa, Italy, where he was bishop from 1980 to 1993.
The sepulchre is located in the north transept of St. Paul's Cathedral, between the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament and the Holy House of Loreto, overlooked by the 14th-century painting “Madonna nursing the Baby Jesus.”
“[Bishop Giovanni] left us Xaverian missionaries and everyone else with a lasting memory of his great faith, his devotion to the Virgin Mary, his paternal kindness, his love for the Xaverian Family and his constant dedication to the missionary apostolate…”
