È il primo documento organico costruito dai protagonisti della nuova ondata di battesimi degli adulti in Francia. Catecumeni, accompagnatori, preti, religiosi e religiose, gruppi e comunità sono stati convocati dalle diocesi dell’Ile-de-France: comprendente Parigi e le diocesi di Créteil, Evry-Corbeil, Meaux, Nanterre, Pontoise, Saint-Denis, Versailles, a cui si è aggiunto l’Ordinariato militare.

L’invito ha avuto un’accoglienza sorprendente. Fra il 25 gennaio e il 28 giugno hanno risposto 46.000 persone in 4.850 contributi. Il tutto finalizzato ad un concilio locale, poi indicato come assemblea ecclesiale provinciale.

380 delegati si sono ritrovati il 31 maggio a Notre-Dame (Parigi) e si re-incontreranno dapprima in un ritiro a Neully, poi in tre sessioni (ottobre 2026, gennaio e maggio 2027) per costruire gli orientamenti in relazione ai nuovi battesimi degli adulti che, dopo la recognitio della Santa Sede, potrebbero diventare operativi nell’autunno del 2027.

Le numerosissime risposte arrivate sono state riprese da una trentina di “lettori” fra il 4 e l’11 luglio nell’abbazia di Saint-Benoît sur Loire.

This is the first comprehensive document drafted by the key figures behind the new wave of adult baptisms in France. Catechumens, supporters, priests, men and women religious, groups, and communities were summoned by the dioceses of Île-de-France – which includes Paris and the dioceses of Créteil, Évry-Corbeil, Meaux, Nanterre, Pontoise, Saint-Denis, and Versailles, as well as the Military Ordinariate.

The invitation was met with a surprising response. Between January 25^th and June 28^th, 46,000 people responded with 4,850 written contributions. All of this was aimed at convening a local council, later referred to as a provincial ecclesial assembly. 

380 delegates gathered on May 31^st at Notre-Dame (Paris) and will meet again, first for a retreat in Neully, then in three sessions (October 2026, January, and May 2027) to develop guidelines regarding the new adult baptisms, which, following the Holy See’s recognition (recognitio), could become operational in the fall of 2027.

The vast number of responses received were reviewed by about thirty “readers” between July 4^th and 11^th at the Abbey of Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire.

They have drafted the Instrumentum laboris that the delegates will use as a basis for their work during the upcoming sessions of the assembly.
