Nella messa celebrata dopo la nomina a cardinale, il vescovo di Como, Mons. Oscar Cantoni, ha voluto sottolineare alcuni aspetti dell’amata diocesi di Como:  

“Interpreto la mia recente nomina dono gratuito e immeritato, che mi ha molto sorpreso e di cui non sono degno, quale riconoscimento di Papa Francesco a questa nostra amata diocesi, che in questi anni ha tanto sofferto, irrorata dal sangue prezioso e fecondo di questi nostri fratelli e amici”. Nella sua riflessione, il vescovo ha citato anche “i nostri fratelli sinodali, che il Signore ha richiamato a sé: padre Luigi Zucchinelli sx , don Alessandro Zubiani , l’ex presidente delle Acli Emanuele Cantaluppi e l’ex direttore della Caritas Roberto Bernasconi…”.

During the Mass he celebrated after being appointed as Cardinal, the bishop of Como, Msgr. Oscar Cantoni, wished to underscore some aspects of the beloved diocese of Como:

“My recent appointment is a gratuitous and undeserved gift, which has surprised me very much and which I am not worthy of. I consider it a sign of Pope Francis’ recognition given to our beloved diocese that in recent years has suffered a lot and has been bedewed with the precious and fruitful blood of these brothers and friends of ours.” In his reflection, the bishop mentioned also “our synodal brothers, whom the Lord has called from this world to Himself: Fr. Luigi Zucchinelli s.x.; Fr. Alessandro Zubiani; the former president of ACLI, Emanuele Cantaluppi; and the former director of Caritas, Roberto Bernasconi.”
