Mercoledì 22 maggio 2024, papa Francesco ha concluso il ciclo di 20 catechesi sui vizi e sulle virtù, iniziato il 27 dicembre 2023.

In quest’ultima catechesi il papa si è soffermato sul tema dell’umiltà: “È la grande antagonista della superbia, dei deliri di onnipotenza, tanto pericolosi che albergano nel cuore umano. Umiltà significa soprattutto percezione della propria piccolezza…”. “Mentre l’orgoglio e la superbia gonfiano il cuore umano, facendoci apparire più di quello che siamo, l’umiltà riporta tutto nella giusta dimensione: siamo creature meravigliose ma limitate, con pregi e difetti…”.

On Wednesday, May 22^nd, 202, Pope Francis concluded the cycle of 20 catechesis on vices and virtues that he had started on December 27^th, 2023.

In this last catechesis, the Pope dwelt on the theme of humility: “It is the great antagonist of […] arrogance […], the delirium of omnipotence, which is so dangerous, [and] often arises in the human heart. […] Humility means perception of one’s own smallness!”

“Whereas pride and arrogance swell the human heart, making us appear to be more than we are, humility restores everything to its correct dimension: we are wonderful creatures, but we are limited, with qualities and flaws.”
