Il Venerabile Servo di Dio - Pietro Uccelli (10 marzo 1874 – 29 ottobre 1954). La sua venerabilità fu riconosciuta il 19 maggio 2018:

…Il suo sacerdozio fu segnato fin dall’inizio dall’ Enciclica Rerum Novarum (Leone XIII, 1891); nelle varie comunità cui fu destinato, si distinse per fede ed impegno sociale. In Cina cercò di assimilare appieno la cultura del Paese per annunciare il Vangelo. Unendosi agli sforzi degli stessi governanti locali, si oppose energicamente alla propagazione del commercio e dell’uso dell’oppio.

P. Pietro Uccelli intese il suo essere presbitero come una consacrazione per la missione ad gentes. Noto per l’esercizio del ministero della riconciliazione e come direttore spirituale, attirava la gente e sapeva raggiungere ogni persona, donando conforto nelle avversità.

Fu un uomo animato dalla fiducia nella Provvidenza e nell’amore paterno di Dio.  Uomo saggio, prudente e pacifico. Abbracciando il carisma di San Guido Maria Conforti, divenne missionario, offrendo la sua vita per l’apostolato in Cina.

Seppe fare della sua vita una scuola di santità e un modo concreto per essere a completo servizio della Chiesa per l’annuncio del Vangelo e per il servizio alle persone bisognose del pane quotidiano e di una parola sapiente per la propria vita...

The Venerable Servant of God, Pietro Uccelli (March 10^th, 1874 – October 29^th, 1954). He was declared venerable on May 19^th, 2018.

… Since the beginning, his priesthood was marked by the Encyclical Rerum Novarum (Leo XIII, 1891). In all the communities he was sent to, he stood out for his faith and social commitment. In China he tried to fully absorb the culture of that Country in order to proclaim the Gospel. He joined the efforts of local rulers in vigorously opposing the propagation of the trade and use of opium.

Fr. Pietro Uccelli viewed his being a priest as a consecration to the ad gentes mission. Known for practicing the ministry of reconciliation and as spiritual director, he attracted many people; he was able to reach each person and give solace in their adversities. He was a man imbued with faith in Divine Providence and in God’s paternal love. A wise, prudent, and peaceful man. By embracing the charism of St Guido Maria Conforti, he became a missionary and offered his life for the apostolate in China.

He was able to render his life a school of holiness and a concrete manner to be fully at the service of the Church for the proclamation of the Gospel and the service to people in need of daily bread and of a wise word for their lives… (from the website of the Dicastery for the causes of saints)
