In un continente in piena trasformazione — alle prese con complesse sfide socioeconomiche, rapidi cambiamenti culturali e pressanti richiami ecclesiali — abbiamo scelto di affrontare una questione cruciale nel contesto dell’anno giubilare: “La presenza saveriana in Africa nell’era dei grandi cambiamenti: quali vie di speranza?”
Questo tema ci ha invitato a considerare lo stretto legame che esiste tra il contesto africano, nella sua complessità, laddove siamo presenti, e la nostra identità carismatica. Si tratta fondamentalmente di accompagnare la crescita del nostro carisma in questo continente, salvaguardando al contempo la forza profetica che esso porta sia per la società che per la Chiesa. L’epoca dei grandi cambiamenti è quindi un tempo di grandi opportunità, che richiede da parte nostra discernimento, audacia e rinnovamento…
In the introduction, the General Direction writes:
On a continent undergoing profound transformations, grappling with complex socioeconomic challenges, rapid cultural shifts, and pressing calls from the Church, we chose to address a crucial theme within the context of the Jubilee Year: “The Xaverian presence in Africa in an era of great change: what paths of hope?”
This theme invited us to consider the close bond between the African context – in all its complexity – where we are present, and our own charismatic identity. Fundamentally, it is a matter of fostering the growth of our charism on this continent while safeguarding the prophetic power it brings to both society and Church. This era of great change is, therefore, a time of immense opportunities that demand discernment, boldness, and renewal on our part…
