In occasione della Solennità di San Francesco Saverio, i confratelli della parrocchia di Luvungi, la comunità di Kilomoni, e le sorelle saveriane si sono radunati per la celebrazione eucaristica animata dai nostri giovani pre-novizi e presieduta dal Vicario Generale della Diocesi di Uvira, Mons. Honoré Barhebwa. Nell’omelia, il Vicario Generale ha ringraziato i saveriani per il loro lavoro nella Diocesi di Uvira: “Padri, voi siete i nostri fondatori, perché voi avete fondato questa Diocesi.” Poi, i confratelli presenti hanno rinnovato la loro professione religiosa. L’internazionalità della nostra famiglia religiosa era particolarmente evidente per la presenza di confratelli congolesi, indonesiani, italiani e messicani, a rappresentare i quattro continenti in cui operiamo. E siccome ogni festa non è mai celebrata senza pensare ai vicini, abbiamo invitato anche i sacerdoti diocesani della parrocchia di Kavinvira, altri religiosi e religiose (i salesiani, i fratelli della carità, le suore dorotee di Cemmo, le suore di santa Gemma e le suore di san Giuseppe) con cui collaboriamo in questa parrocchia, come pure i nostri lavoratori e decine di bambini “curiosi” che si sono spontaneamente assembrati attorno a noi. On the occasion of the Solemnity of Saint Francis Xavier, the confreres of the parish of Luvungi and of the community of Kilomoni, and the Xaverian Sisters, gathered for the Eucharistic celebration which was animated by our young pre-novices and presided over by the Vicar General of the Diocese of Uvira, Mgr. Honoré Barhebwa.

In his homily, the Vicar General thanked the Xaverians for their missionary work in the Diocese of Uvira: "Fathers, you are our founders because you founded this Diocese". Then the confreres present renewed their religious consecration. The internationality of our religious family was particularly visible with the presence of Congolese, Indonesian, Italian and Mexican confreres representing the four continents where we work. Since a feast is never celebrated without thinking of one’s neighbours, we invited also the diocesan priests of the parish of Kavinvira, other religious men and women (the Salesians, the Brothers of Charity, the Sisters of Dorothée de Cemmo, the Sisters of Santa Gemma and the Sisters of Saint Joseph) with whom we collaborate in this parish, our workers and dozens of “curious” children that spontaneously gathered around us.
