SECONDO VENERDÌ DI OTTOBRE (08.10.2021).

Il XVII Capitolo Generale chiese alla famiglia Saveriana di stabilire una Giornata dei Martiri Saveriani. La Direzione Generale, dopo aver ascoltato il parere dei superiori delle Circoscrizioni, le Missionarie di Maria – Saveriane  e il Laicato Saveriano, ha scelto il secondo venerdì del mese di ottobre, il mese missionario, come Giornata dei Martiri Saveriani. Una giornata in cui, come Famiglia Saveriana Carismatica, siamo invitati a fare memoria grata dei nostri confratelli e delle nostre sorelle martiri. La loro testimonianza ci ricorda che la consacrazione missionaria è inseparabile dal martirio.

Il nostro confratello Bachino sx, nella sua riflessione, ci invita a riscoprire il martirio che sembra oggi essere una realtà fuori moda e addirittura disprezzata. L’invito è quello di riappropriaci di una dimensione costitutiva della vita cristiana e missionaria. Ce lo ricorda il Fondatore con chiarezza: “Se mancherà il martirio di sangue, non mancherà… il martirio continuato e più grave del vero”.

SECOND FRIDAY OF OCTOBER (Oct. 8th – 2021.

The XVII General Chapter asked the Xaverian Family to establish a Day of the Xaverian Martyrs. After listening to the opinions of the Superiors of the various Circumscriptions, the Missionary Sisters of Mary and the Xaverian Laity, the General Direction has chosen the second Friday of October – the missionary month – as the Day of the Xaverian Martyrs. In this Day, as Charismatic Xaverian Family we are all invited to remember gratefully our martyred Xaverian Confreres and Xaverian Sisters. Their witness reminds us that our missionary consecration is inseparable from martyrdom.       

Our confrere Fr. Bachino s.x., in his reflection, invites us to rediscover martyrdom, which today seems to be an outdated and, even, despised reality.  The invitation is to regain possession of a constitutive dimension of Christian and missionary life. The Founder reminds us clearly: “… if the martyrdom by shedding our blood may be lacking, certainly the continuous lived martyrdom of our daily life will be even more true and real.”
