The beginning of the community year is always the moment for reviving our missionary ideal with new enthusiasm. During the planning of our Community Project of Life, we picked the coming XVIII General Chapter’s theme “Loving Our Xaverian Vocation” as the inspirative direction of our community year. We are aware of the great gift we received with our calling as people who have been touched by the infinite love of God, just like the young Saint Guido perceived the love of the Crucifix, and who desire this love to be experienced by any man and woman in the world.
We are also aware that loving our missionary vocation calls us for the responsibility to take care of our human face which represents an essential element and tool for living mission. For this reason, we decided to focus on this particular dimension of our life. Jesus himself did not despise his humanity. In fact, in Christ, “the assumed [human] nature inseparably united to Him, serves the divine Word as a living organ of salvation” (LG 8). Thus, we desire to grow in the awareness of who we are and to take care of our human face as an essential element of our formation and missionary vocation.
