Il 26.03.2020, verso le ore 01:30, è deceduto nell’Ospedale di Fidenza Fr. Lucio Gregato. Da alcuni giorni si trovava ricoverato all’Ospedale di Parma per problemi respiratori, ma essendo stato trovato negativo al test del covid-19, era stato trasferito all’Ospedale di Fidenza.
Il confratello aveva 79 anni, essendo nato a Cavasagra di Vedelago (Treviso – IT), il 12.05.1940.
Dopo una specializzazione in campo edile ed un’esperienza lavorativa, nel 1963 il giovane Lucio entra nella casa saveriana di Piacenza. Dopo un anno di probandato, va a S. Pietro in Vincoli per l’anno di noviziato.
Dopo la Prima Professione religiosa-missionaria (emessa il 03.10.1965 a Parma), fr. Lucio ritorna a Piacenza per studi (1965-1968).
Nell’agosto del 1968, fr. Lucio parte per il Burundi. Dopo un anno di studio della lingua a Bujumbura (1968-1969), inizia il suo servizio specifico come incaricato delle costruzioni: Kigwena (1969-1971), Rumonge (1971-1972), Rumeza (1972-1973), Rumonge (1973-1976), Mugamba (1976-1977). Dopo alcuni mesi di aggiornamento a Parma (1977-1978) fr. Lucio rientra in Burundi per continuare con il suo servizio nelle costruzioni: Rumonge (1978-1979) e Minago (1979-1981).
Nel novembre del 1981 fr. Lucio viene espulso dal Burundi e rientra in Italia. Dopo qualche mese di aggiornamento (1981-1982), parte per il Congo. Qui viene destinato a Kakutya come incaricato delle costruzioni ed economo locale (1982-1987).
Dopo un anno di cure in Italia (1987-1988), fr. Lucio ritorna a lavorare nelle costruzioni: a Kakutya (1988-1991) e a Bukavu (1991-1996).
Nel 1996, a causa dello scoppio della guerra, rientra in Italia. Dopo alcuni mesi di riposo-vacanze, fr. Lucio ritorna ad occuparsi delle costruzioni: Kasongo Ngene (1997-1999), Bukavu (1999-2004), Luvungi, dove è anche economo locale (2004-2013), Kindu-Basoko (2013-2016) e Kilomoni (2016-2019).
Nel mese di luglio 2019, fr. Lucio va a Parma per un periodo di riposo e per sottoporsi ad alcune cure mediche. Qui, il 26.03.2020 gli Angeli lo portano al cospetto dell’Altissimo per ricevere la ricompensa del servitore buono e fedele.

Bro. Lucio Gregato died in the Hospital of Fidenza, on March 26th, 2020. For several days he had been admitted to the Hospital of Parma. Having been found negative to the test of Covid-19, Bro. Lucio Gregato had been transferred to the Hospital of Fidenza. Our Confrere was born in the town of Cavasagra di Vedelago (Treviso – IT) on May 12th, 1940, and was now 79 years old.
After a specialization in construction and a valuable work experience, young Lucio Gregato entered the Xaverian House of Piacenza in the year 1963. After the first year of experience, evaluation and assessment, Lucio went to the Novitiate House of San Pietro in Vincoli for his Novitiate Year.
After the Celebration of his First Religious Missionary Profession, (October 3rd, 1965) in Parma, Bro. Lucio returned to Piacenza to further his studies (1965-1968).
In the month of August 1968, Bro. Lucio Gregato left for Burundi. After one year of studying French and local language in Bujumbura (1968-1969), he began his mission service concentrating on construction: Kigwena (1969-1971), Rumeza (1972-1973), Romonge (1973-1976), Mugamba (1976-177). After few months spent in Parma (IT), for rest and upgrading, Bro. Lucio returned to Burundi to continue his construction service: Rumonge (1978-1979), and Minago (1978-1981).
In the Month of November 1981, Bro Lucio Gregato was expelled by the Government of Burundi, and returned to Italy. Again, Bro. Lucio used his time furthering his knowledge (1981-1982), and then departed for the Democratic Republic of Congo. Assigned to the Xaverian Community of Kakutya (1982-1987), Bro. Lucio Gregato resumed his precious service of constructor and of treasurer.
For health reasons, Bro Lucio Gregato returned to Italy (1987-1988). After his recovery, Bro. Lucio returned to his Mission: Kakutya (1988-1991) and Bukavu (1991-1996).
In the year 1996, due to the outbreak of the civil war, Bro Lucio Gregato returned to Italy. He rested for few months, and, as soon as possible, returned to his missions and to construction: Kasongo Ngene (1997-1999), Bukavu (1999-2004), Luvungi, where he was local treasurer of the Xaverian Community (2004-2013), Kindu-Basoko (2013-2016), and Kilomoni (2016-2019).
In the month of July 2019, Bro. Lucio Gregato went to Parma for rest and received some medical treatment. Here, on March 26th, 2020, the Angels brought him to the Almighty God to receive the reward of the good and faithful servant.
