Nella mattinata del 26.03.2020, verso le ore 11:30, è deceduto nella Casa Madre di Parma, il P. Angelo Costalonga. Il confratello aveva 88 anni, essendo nato a Sarmede (Treviso – IT), il 12.11.1931.
Nel 1943, il giovane Angelo entra nella comunità saveriana di Vicenza (allora sfollata a Sovizzo a causa della guerra). L’anno seguente va a Grumone per completare la scuola media (1944-1946) e per frequentare il ginnasio (1946-1948). Nel settembre del 1948 Angelo si trasferisce a S. Pietro in Vincoli per l’anno di noviziato.
Dopo la Prima Professione religiosa-missionaria (fatta il 12.09.1949), il giovane Angelo continua con il consueto iter scolastico-formativo: liceo a Desio (1949-1952), prefettato a Vicenza (1952-1953), teologia a Piacenza (1953-1957).
Viene ordinato Presbitero a Piacenza il 16.03.1957.
Finiti gli studi di teologia, p. Angelo viene destinato alla Scuola Apostolica di Alzano L. come insegnante (1957-1960).
Nell’agosto del 1960 p. Angelo parte per il Congo. Qui, viene destinato a Baraka come vice parroco (1960-1962), a Mungombe come economo (1962-1963) e a Uvira, sempre come economo (1963-1964).
Dopo un anno trascorso ad Alzano L. per riposo-ministero (1964-1965), p. Angelo va a Bruxelles come studente di lingua (1965-1966) per poi rientrare in Congo. Dopo qualche mese passato a Kiliba come parroco, p. Angelo viene destinato a Uvira come vice parroco (1967-1968) e, poi, come Procuratore Diocesano (1968-1970). In seguito p. Angelo si trasferisce a Bukavu dove svolge il servizio di economo della casa Regionale e di insegnante all’ISP (1970-1975).
Nel settembre del 1975, p. Angelo viene destinato a Parma dove svolge senza interruzione il suo servizio come incaricato della documentazione fotografica che lo porta a visitare quasi tutte le missioni saveriane. Oltre a questo, p. Angelo trova anche il tempo per dipingere, su acquarello, molti quadri che ritraggono paesaggi o angoli di città italiane.
Il 26 marzo 2020, p. Angelo viene ammesso a contemplare di persona quella Bellezza Divina che aveva sempre intravisto nella sua attività artistica.

Fr. Angelo Costalonga died in the Mother House of Parma in the morning of March 26th, 2020, at about 11:30 am. He was born in the town of Sarmede (Treviso –IT) on November 12th, 1931.
In 1943, the young Angelo Costalonga entered the Xaverian House of Vicenza. Due to the war, the community moved to Sovizzo. The following year he went to Grumone to complete his Middle School education (1944-1946) and High School (1946-1948). In the month of September 1948, Angelo went to San Pietro in Vincoli for the Novitiate Year.
After his First Religious Missionary Profession (September 12th, 1949), Angelo Costalonga continued with his formation and education: College in Desio (1949-1952); Students prefect in Vicenza (1952-1953); Theology Studies in Piacenza (1953-1957).
He was ordained priest on March 16th, 1957, in Piacenza.
Then, Fr. Angelo Costalonga was assigned to minister in the Xaverian Seminary of Alzano Lombardo as teacher (1957-1960).
In the month of August 1960, Fr. Angelo Costalonga left for the Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire). First, he was assigned to Baraka as Assistant Parish Priest (1960-1962). Then, to Mungombe as treasurer (1962-1963), and to Uvira, as treasurer (1963-1964).
After his return to Italy, Fr. Angelo Costalonga spent a year for rest and ministry in the Xaverian House of Alzano Lombardo (1964-1965). He, then, went to Bruxelles to deepen his knowledge of the French Language (1965-1966) and re-entered in the Democratic Republic of Congo. After few months spent in the city of Kiliba as Parish Priest of the Catholic Parish, Fr. Angelo Costalonga was assigned to Uvira as Assistant Parish Priest (1967-1968) and, then, as Diocesan Procurator to the Diocese of Uvira (1968-1970). Later, Fr. Angelo moved to Bukavu, where he served as Treasurer of the Xaverian Regional House and as teacher at the ISP (1970-1975).
In the month of September 1975, Fr. Angelo was sent to Parma, at the Xaverian Mother House. Here, Fr. Angelo Costalonga was put in charge of documenting, photographically, all the historical documents of the Congregation. In his service, without interruption, Fr. Angelo Costalonga had the opportunity of visiting all our residences, all the Xaverian Communities and all our mission territories. Besides all of this, Fr. Angelo found time to paint, with passion and beauty, on watercolor, an immensity of paintings, depicting landscapes of all sorts and of many Italian cities.
On March 26th, 2020, Fr. Angelo Costalonga was admitted to contemplate, personally, the Divine beauty of Almighty God, whom he had always glimpsed at in his ministerial and artistic activities.
