P. Mario Minuti

Intorno alle 20.00 del 19 agosto a Parma in Casa Madre, è morto P. Mario Minuti. Era prossimo ai 75 anni, essendo nato a Osio Sotto (Bergamo – Italia) il 16.10.1940.
Quella di P. Mario è stata una vocazione adulta, spuntata e cresciuta nell’oratorio parrocchiale di Osio Sotto, animato allora dal curato don Angelo Paravisi che dal 1996 al 2004 fu vescovo di Crema (CR).
«Mentre facevo le 6 domeniche in onore di S. Luigi Gonzaga – ha scritto il 28.9.59 –, è venuto un missionario a parlare delle missioni … Il Signore in quel momento si è fatto sentire in me: ‘Perché non ti fai missio-nario che hanno tanto bisogno?’… da quel giorno ho sempre sentito il desiderio di farmi missionario … Ora ho deciso: porterò la sua luce dove non c’è. Gesù mi ha chiamato e io vado. Non mi sento di farmi missionario, ma laico».
«Sinceramente mi ha sorpreso la decisione di Mario che, peraltro, era sempre stato un giovane amante della chiesa e dei sacramenti» (Don Paravisi, 19.11.59).
Entrò all'Istituto a Piacenza nel 1959, come probando. Nel 1961 fu ammesso al Noviziato a S. Pietro in Vincoli. Emise la Prima Professione come Fratello a Parma il 3.10.1962.
Più che positivo il giudizio d’ammissione: «Ha varie capacità e inclinazioni. Buona volontà e intelligenza. Pietà sentita e ben coltivata … Sa lavorare, non ha paura della fatica, è giudizioso e leale» (Fine Noviziato, 62).
Dopo la Prima Professione fece parte della comunità di S. Pietro in Vincoli, addetto alle attività dell’azienda agricola della casa (’62-’64). Fu quindi destinato al Brasile Sud. Giunto nel nuovo campo di lavoro (19.2.64), dopo appena 15 giorni, ebbe l’incarico dell’assistenza degli apostolini nel nuovo istituto di Jaguapità. Un inizio non certo facile: “dall’allevamento dei polli passare assistente dei ragazzi con limitata conoscenza della lingua!”. Mario si impegnò generosamente e con “allegria”.
E così in tutti i servizi che i superiori gli affidarono successivamente: Londrina (addetto alla casa ’66-’68; economo ’72-’74 e ’78-’81); Lupianopolis (aiuto vigario ’68-’69); São Paulo – Vila Diadema (scuola professionale e pastorale giovanile (’69-’72); Laranjeiras do Sul, Parr. Sant'Ana (Pastorale giovanile ’74-’78).
La parabola delle attività di Fr. Mario: muratore, azienda agricola, assistenza aspiranti missionari, economia dei seminari, pastorale in particolare tra i giovani. indica chiaramente che il carisma di Fr. Mario era la pastorale parrocchiale. Difatti il 19 febbraio ‘76 chiese al Superiore Regionale di poter iniziare gli studi in vista del Presbiterato. La risposta, positiva, giunse dopo un laborioso e prolungato discernimento, l’8 maggio 1981: “ha senso di responsabilità, spirito di sacrificio e di preghiera; leader nei gruppi giovanili; partecipazione normale alla vita comunitaria; principalmente il suo amore per il ministero pastorale” (7.1.81 Consiglio regionale).
Studiò teologia a Curitiba dove fu ordinato presbitero il 23/11/1985.
Fu quindi Vice parroco (’86-’89) nella parrocchia S. Familia di São Paulo – Guaianases. Così, nell’omilia funebre a Osio Sotto, ha ricordato quel periodo don Angelo Longarelli, ospite di Pe. Mario, per un mese, a Guaianases nel 1987: «Sono rimasto ammirato per la sua vicinanza ai più poveri con coraggio, fino a rischiare in alcuni momenti delicati la vita. Aveva fondato una cooperativa per i sem tera e ogni domenica, mi ricordo, c’era una riunione con questi disperati perché non si scoraggiassero nel tentativo di avere un pezzo di terra per costruirvi una baracca. Ammirato per le belle e gioiose celebrazioni nelle cappelle appena costruite o in costruzione; per la sua familiarità con la Parola di Dio spiegata con semplicità e incisività; per la gioia di sentirsi, di essere in mezzo alla sua gente».
Dal 1989 al 1993 prestò assistenza ai malati a Parma in Casa Madre. Nel 1993 ritornò in Brasile e fu Parroco a Laranjeiras do Sul, Nova Laranjeiras e Londrina. Nel 2010 rientrò definitivamente in Italia per assistere i malati e, alla fine, per essere assistito.
Con la sua inconfondibile risposta: «Faccio con gioia questa volontà di Dio, anche se mi costa molto. Lo faccio anche per amore alla nostra famiglia come ci ha insegnato il Fondatore» (15.6.2010).

Fr. Mario Minuti died in the Mother Hose, Parma, on 19 August 2015. Born in Osio Sotto (Bergamo – Italy), on 16 October 1940, he was 74 years old.
Fr. Mario was an adult vocation that was born and developed in his native parish of Osio Sotto, under the guidance of the assistant priest, Fr. Angelo Paravisi, who later became the bishop of Crema (1996-2004).
On 28 September 1959, Fr. Mario thus described the birth of his vocation: «While I was doing the six Sundays in honor of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, a missionary came to speak about the missions … At that moment I heard the Lord asking me: ‘Why don’t you become a missionary as there is a great need of them?’… from that day onwards I always felt the desire to become a missionary … Now I have decided: I will take His light wherever it is lacking. Jesus has called me and I will follow Him and I will do so as a lay brother».
The assistant priest commented: «I was really surprised by Mario’s decision because he had always struck me as a young person who loved the Church and the sacraments » (Fr. Paravisi, 19.11.59).
Mario joined the Institute in Piacenza in 1959 and was admitted to Novitiate in S. Pietro in Vincoli in 1961. He made his First Profession as a Brother, in Parma, on 3 October 1962.
The final report at the end of Novitiate gave the following very positive assessment: «He possesses various abilities and talents: a strong will and intelligence; a keen and well-cultivated spirituality; he is a hard worker, a sensible and loyal person».
After his First Profession he was sent to S. Pietro in Vincoli, where he worked in the farming activity of that community (1962-64). He was then assigned to South Brazil and arrived there on 19 February 1964. After just 15 days he was assigned the task of assistant to the junior seminarians in the new seminary of Jaguapità. It was not an easy beginning: “I went from rearing chickens to assisting young seminarians with a limited knowledge of the language!”. Fr. Mario carried out this task with generosity and cheerfulness, just as he did in all the other works assigned to him by the superiors in subsequent years: Londrina ( general tasks 1966-68; treasurer 1972-74 and 1978-81); Lupianopolis (assistant 1968-69); São Paulo – Vila Diadema (training school and youth ministry (’69-’72); Laranjeiras do Sul, in the Sant'Ana parish (Youth ministry 1974-78).
Mario’s activities during his working life as a bricklayer, farmer, assistant to aspiring missionaries, treasurer in the seminaries, pastoral ministry (especially to young people) clearly confirm his charism as a man for parish pastoral ministry. Indeed, on 19 February 1976, he asked the Regional Superior if he could study for the priesthood. The positive reply arrived on 8 May 1981, after a laborious and prolonged discernment: “he has a sense of responsibility, spirit of sacrifice and prayer; he is a leader in the youth groups and his participation in community life is normal; his special love is for the pastoral ministry” (Regional Council , 7.1.81).
He studied theology in Curitiba and was ordained priest there on 23 November 1985. He served as assistant priest (1986-89) in the parish S. Familia in São Paulo – Guaianases. During the funeral homily at Osio Sotto, he was thus remembered by Fr. Angelo Longarelli, who had been his guest for one month, at Guaianases, in 1987: «I admired him for his courageous solidarity with the poorest people, even to the point of risking his own life in delicate moments. He had founded a cooperative for the people without land and, every Sunday, there was a meeting with these desperate people to avoid them getting discouraged in their attempts to possess a piece of land on which to build a hut. I admired the beautiful and joyful celebrations in the recently built chapels, or those that were still in the process of being built; I admired his familiarity with the Word of God, which he explained with simplicity and incisiveness; I admired his joyful identification with his people».
From 1989 until 1993 he assisted the sick confreres in the Mother House, Parma. In 1993 he returned to Brazil and served as Parish priest in Laranjeiras do Sul, Nova Laranjeiras and Londrina.
In 2010 he returned definitively to Italy to assist the sick confreres and, finally, to receive assistance in his own illness. He reacted to this in his own unique way: «I do God’s will in this situation too, even though it costs me a lot. I do it also for the love of our Family, just as the Founder taught us to do» (15.6.2010).
May he rest in peace.

Au tour de 20h00 du 19 aout à Parme, dans la maison mère, est mort le P. Mario Minuti. Il avait presque 75 ans, puisqu’il était né à Osio Sotto (Bergame – Italie) le 16.10.1940
Sa vocation était adulte, surgie et grandie au sein de l’oratoire paroissial de Osio Sotto, animé en ce temps là par Don Angelo Paravisi qui, de 1996 à 2004, a été évêque de Crema (CR).
« Pendant que je faisais le 6 dimanches en honneur de St Louis de Gonzague – écrit-il le 28.09.59 -, est arrivé un missionnaire pour parler des missions… Le Seigneur, en ce moment-là, s’est fait sentir en moi : « pourquoi tu ne te fais pas missionnaire qu’il y a tellement besoin ? »… A partir de ce jour, j’ai toujours senti le désir de devenir missionnaire… Maintenant j’ai décidé : Je porterais sa lumière là où il en manque. Jésus m’a appelé et j’y vais. Je ne sens pas l’appel à devenir prêtre, mais plutôt laïc ». « La décision de Mario m’a sincèrement surpris et pourtant il a toujours été un jeune amoureux de l’Eglise et des Sacrements » (Don Paravisi, 19.11.59).
Il fait son entrée à l’institut à Plaisance en 1959. En 1961, il est admis au noviciat à S. Pietro in Vincoli et il émet sa Première Profession comme frère á Parme le 3.10.1962.
Le rapport pour son admission est plus que positif : « Il a plusieurs capacités et atouts. Bonne volonté et intelligence. Piété bien cultivée… il sait travailler, n’a pas peur de la fatigue, sait discerner et est loyal » (fin noviciat, 62).
Après la première profession, il fait partie de la communauté de S. Pietro in Vincoli, dévoué aux activités agricoles de la maison (62-64). Il est en suite destiné au Sud du Brésil. Arrivé dans son nouveau champ de travail (16.02.64), à peine 15 jours plus tard, il est le chargé des petits séminaristes dans le nouvel Institut « Jaguapita ». Un début certainement pas facile : « De l’élevage de poules à assistant de jeunes avec une connaissance limitée de la langue ! ». P. Mario s’est engagé généreusement et avec « joie ».
Il s’est ainsi caractérisé dans tous les services que les supérieurs lui ont confié successivement : Londrina (chargé de l’entretien de la maison 66-68 ; économe 72-74 et 78-81) ; Lupianopolis (aide vicaire 68-69) ; Sao Paulo – Vila Diadema (Ecole professionnelle et pastorale juvénile (69-72) ; Laranjeiras do Sul, Paroisse Sant’Ana (Pastorale des jeunes 74-78).
La parabole des activités du Fr. Mario : constructeur, agriculteur, assistant des aspirants missionnaires, économe aux séminaires, pastorale d’une manière particulière parmi les jeunes. Tout cela indique que le charisme du Fr. Mario était la pastorale paroissiale. En effet, le 19 février 1976, il demande au Supérieur Régional de pouvoir étudier en vue de ministères ordonnés. La réponse, favorable, arrive après un long moment de discernement, le 8 mai 1981 : « il a un sens de responsabilité, un esprit de sacrifice et de prière ; il est leader dans les groupes des jeunes ; avec une participation normale dans la vie communautaire ; principalement par son amour pour le ministère pastoral » (7.01.81 Conseil régional).
Il a étudié la théologie à Curitiba où il fut ordonné prêtre le 23.11.1985.
Il a alors été Vice curé (86-89) dans la paroisse Sainte Famille de Sao Paulo – Guaianases. C’est ainsi que, dans son homélie funèbre à Osio Sotto, Don Angelo Longarello se rappelle de cette période, quand il a rendu visite au P. Mario pour un mois, à Guaianases en 1987 : « j’ai été frappé par sa proximité aux plus pauvres et avec courage, jusqu’au point de risquer dans certains moments délicats de la vie. Il avait fondé une coopérative pour les sem tera et chaque dimanche, je me rappelle, il y avait une réunion de ces sans espoir pour qu’ils ne se découragent pas dans la lutte et la tentative d’avoir un morceau de terre pour construire une baraque. Il était admiré pour ses belles et joyeuses célébrations dans les chapelles à peine construites ou en construction ; pour sa familiarité avec la Parole de Dieu expliquée avec simplicité et insistance ; pour la joie de se savoir, d’être parmi les gens ».
De 1989 à 1993 il a assisté les malades à Parme, à la Maison-mère. En 1993, il rentre au Brésil et fut curé de Laranjeiras do Sul, Nova Laranjeiras et Londrina.
En 2010, il rentre définitivement en Italie pour assister les malades et, à la fin, pour être lui-même assisté. Avec sa réponse de toujours : « Je fais avec joie cette volonté de Dieu, même si cela me coûte beaucoup. Je le fais aussi par amour pour notre famille comme nous l’a enseigné le Fondateur » (15.06.2010).
Que son âme repose en paix.
