FORMATION OF THE XAVERIAN: THE NEW FIGURE OF THE XAVERIAN

MISSION AND FORMATION

Holiness and mission are the central themes of this Mission Conference. We celebrated the recent canonization of our Founder, St. Guido Maria Conforti, with emotion and gratitude and it has given a great boost to our Congregation. The mission is a journey of holiness and holiness of life leads us to the mission. Only the saints can generate generations of saints. We believe that our consecrated missionary life in the Xaverian family our best path to holiness. We have always welcomed those who are called by God to live this life project, aware of the necessity to respond to the challenges of our modern world, as we now reflect on the new figure of the Xaverian, his formation and his insertion into the mission. We already possess very valuable documents, which we have perhaps not yet sufficiently exploited in this field. I therefore do not claim to offer any “novelties”, but to highlight some necessary elements that can guide us in the search for a unity of direction in the formation of the new Xaverians, so that they might continue our Founder’s “audacious project” in the Church, at the service of the peoples to whom we are sent.
