I simboli raffigurati nello scudo
La barca con vela spiegata indica l'invio 'ad gentes', del Vescovo,
ovvero la missione di portare la croce (innalzata sulla vela)
e la redenzione cristiana alle genti lontane.
Il monogramma di Cristo nella cappa destra dello scudo (ovvero alla sinistra di chi guarda) significa che tutta la sua azione è ispirata e guidata dalla figura e dall'insegnamento di Cristo.
La stella nella cappa sinistra indica la Madonna, invocata a protezione della propria missione.
Il motto: IN OMNIBUS CHRISTUS indica come Cristo domina in ogni persona, in ogni attività ed in ogni cosa.
Interpretation of the symbols
The boat with unfurled sail represents the sending of the bishop 'ad gentes', in other words, his mission to carry the cross (raised up on the sail) and proclaim Christian redemption to far off peoples. The monogram XP on the right side of the shield (on the left side of the observer) means that all the bishop’s action is inspired and guided by the figure and the teaching of Christ. The star on the left side of the shield represents Our Blessed Lady, to whose protection and intercession the bishop entrusts his mission.
The motto: IN OMNIBUS CHRISTUS: Christ reigns in every person, activity and all things.
