Il 14 luglio 2014, a Parma, alle 9,30 si è spento il P. Filiberto Corvini. Aveva 78 anni compiuti, essendo nato a Serrapetrona (Macerata) il 26.06.1936.
P. Filiberto ha affidato il racconto della sua vocazione a un tema dal titolo ‘Come vorrei che fosse la mia vita’: “... Anch’io ho scelto la mia vita. Una sera insieme a mia madre, mentre soli soli ci scaldavamo intorno al focolare, ella mi diceva: ‘Sarai sacerdote e avrai una bella parrocchia; così renderai felici anche i tuoi genitori”. La risposta di Filiberto qualche giorno più tardi, dopo aver visto la pellicola Lascialo andare proiettata da P. Patacconi, fu: “Mamma, io non diventerò sacerdote, ma missionario, andrò in Africa, in Cina, sarò un grande predicatore, farò grande onore alla nostra chiesa e ogni bambino che io battezzerò sarà un tuo nipotino. Non sei più contenta?”
Entrò all'Istituto ad Ancona nel 1950, portato da P. Patacconi. Percorse l’iter formativo saveriano allora vigente: Scuola media, Ancona (50-54); Ginnasio, Zelarino (54-56), Noviziato, S. Pietro in Vincoli (56-57); Prima Professione il 12.9.1957; Liceo, Desio (57-60); Propedeutica, Parma (60-61); Prefettato e I Teologia, Alzano e Seminario di Bergamo (61-62); Teologia, Parma (62-65). Fu ordinato presbitero a Parma il 25.10 1964. “Può essere ammesso senza esitazioni –scrivevano i suoi formatori - Buono il carattere; ben dotato di spirito pratico, si applica generosamente al lavoro manuale. Buona la pietà, lodevole l’impegno per la sua vita interiore”.
Dopo l'ordinazione fu destinato all’Indonesia che raggiunse nel ’66. Fu Vice parroco a Bukittinggi e, dal ’68 al ’77, Parroco a Kota Baru: Mahakaria nella mitica foresta del Pasaman.
“Questa è la mia vita – scriveva su Missionari Saveriani, luglio ’74 - Celebrare la messa, pregare, fare il catechismo, correre a salvare un malato, organizzare un’attività, andare nella foresta, infangarmi nelle risaie, dirigere le scuole... è, ci tengo a dirlo, ‘vita sacerdotale’. Sabato scorso sono rimasto fino a mezzanotte a tribolare per tirar fuori dal fango un camion carico di legname; l’altro ieri sono andato con un gruppo di cristiani fino alle paludi per studiare un piano di bonifica; ieri ho dato il via al mulino per la farina di manioca: sudato come un puledro da corsa, bianco come ...un mugnaio e solo 60 chili di farina! Di notte, però, c’è ancora un po’ di tempo per insegnare il catechismo, assistere qualche malato, insegnare un canto ai ragazzi e pregare. Un sacerdozio... evangelico”.
Nel ’77 fu richiamato in Italia per l’avvicendamento. Incaricato dell’Animazione missionaria a Cagliari, fu un efficace strumento di collegamento tra le comunità cristiane della Sardegna e le nuove cristianità di missione.
Nel 1984, a causa delle difficoltà di avere il visto di entrata in Indonesia, fu destinato alla missione della Sierra Leone: lavorò nella pastorale (vice parroco a Kambia e Kamalu) e soprattutto servì i confratelli e la Diocesi di Makeni come Economo e Procuratore Diocesano.
Dal ’98 al ’07 – questa volta per la guerra civile della Sierra Leone – operò ancora in Sardegna: Rettore, Animatore ed Economo a Macomer e a Cagliari. Naturalmente P. Filiberto desiderava la missione: “Sono otto anni che mi trovo in Italia e ne provo disagio. Altre volte ho espresso il mio desiderio di ripartire, oggi lo ripeto con tutta la forza della mia appartenenza ad una congregazione missionaria. Sono il Saveriano che sta battendo il record di permanenza in Sardegna. Per tanti motivi ne ringrazio il Signore, ma è tempo di spiegare le vele".
Seguirono altri 4 anni di Sierra Leone: pastorale a Fadugu e Madina. Infine, dal 2012 in cura a Parma ad offrire coscientemente e serenamente il sacrificio redentore. Sempre nella fedeltà alla scelta del 1950. Sempre più convinto che “la vocazione missionaria ti porta ad orizzonti imprevedibili dove lo Spirito di Dio diventa vento misterioso che non ti darà mai la certezza di sapere da dove viene e dove ti sta portando. Una vocazione che si presenta come un’ascesa al Tabor, che vivi nel quotidiano come cittadino del Calvario e te la senti dentro come una Trasfigurazione che ti fa dire gioiosamente: È bello, o Signore, lo stare qui: perché non facciamo tre tende...” (2009).

Fr. Filiberto Corvini died on 14 July 2014, in Parma. Born in Serrapetrona (Macerata, Italy), on 20 June 1936, he was 78 years old.
Fr. Filiberto described his vocation in an essay entitled ‘The life I want to live’: “... I too have chosen the life I wish to lead. One evening, as I was warming myself at the fire with my mother, she said to me: ‘You will become a priest and you will have a wonderful parish; this will make your parents very happy”. A few days later, after watching the film Lascialo andare, which was shown to us by Fr. Patacconi, Filiberto said to his mother: “I will not become a priest, but a missionary, and I will go to Africa, or China, where I will be a great preacher, bring honor to our church, and every child I baptize will be your grandchild. Does this not make you even happier?”
Fr. Patacconi accompanied him when he went to join the Institute at Ancona in 1950. He completed the Xaverian formation program that was in force at the time: junior high school in Ancona (1950-54); senior high school in Zelarino (1954-56), Novitiate in S. Pietro in Vincoli (1956-57); First Profession on 12 September 1957; Lyceum in Desio (1957-60); Introductory year in Parma (1960-61); Prefect and first year of Theology in Alzano and at the Seminary of Bergamo (1961-62); Theology in Parma (1962-65). He was ordained priest in Parma on 25 October 1964. In their report his formators said: “He can be admitted without any hesitation. He has a good personality, is well equipped with a practical spirit and applies himself generously to manual work. He has a good life of piety and his commitment to the inner life is praiseworthy”.
After his ordination he was assigned to Indonesia and he arrived there in 1966. He served as assistant priest in Bukittinggi and, from 1968 until 1977, as parish priest in Kota Baru.
In July 1974, he wrote in Missionari Saveriani: “this is how my life is structured: Mass, prayer, catechism, save a sick person, organize activities, travel through the forest and rice fields (where I get covered in mud) and manage the schools. I must emphasize that it is a truly ‘priestly life’. Last Saturday, at midnight, I was still struggling to free a lorry loaded with wood from the mud; the day before yesterday, I went with a group of Christians to the swamps to study a clean-up plan; yesterday I gave the go-ahead for a mill to make manioc flour. In the late evening there is still the catechism to attend to, assist some sick people and teach the children to sing and then personal prayer. An evangelical priesthood!”
He was called back to Italy in 1977 on rotation and he was put in charge of Missionary Animation in Cagliari. He established good contacts between the Christian communities of Sardinia and the new Christian communities in the missions.
In 1984, he was assigned to the mission of Sierra Leone because it was becoming increasingly difficult to obtain an entry visa to Indonesia. In Sierra Leone he worked in the pastoral ministry (assistant priest in Kambia and Kamalu) and, above all, he served the confreres and the Diocese of Makeni as Treasurer and Diocesan Procurator.
From 1998 until 2007 he was back in Sardinia, this time because of the civil war in Sierra Leone. He served as Rector, Animator and Treasurer at Macomer and Cagliari. Fr. Filiberto, of course, wanted to go back to the missions: “I have been in Italy for eight years now and I am not very happy about this. I have asked on various occasions to return to the missions. Today I do so once again with all the strength of my belonging to a missionary congregation. I am in danger of becoming the Xaverian who has spent the most time in Sardinia. There are many reasons for being grateful to the Lord for this, but it is time to set sail once again for the missions."
He was sent back to Sierra Leone, where he worked in the pastoral ministry for four years in Fadugu and Madina. In 2012 he was taken into nursing care at Parma. In his illness he was ever more convinced that “the missionary vocation leads you to unforeseeable horizons where the Spirit of God is like the wind, which never tells you where it is coming from, or where it is leading you. A vocation that asks you to climb Mount Tabor, live each day as on Calvary, and experience within your heart the Transfiguration that makes you say with joy: Lord, it is wonderful for us to be here; if you wish, I will make three tents here ...” (2009).

Le 14 Juillet 2014, à Parme, à 09h30 est mort le Père Filiberto Corvini. Il était âgé de 78 ans, étant né en Serrapetrona (Macerata) le 26.06.1936.
P. Filiberto a confié l'histoire de sa vocation à un thème intitulé « Comme je souhaite que soit ma vie " : " ... moi aussi j’ai choisi ma vie. Un soir avec ma mère, alors que nous seuls nous nous réchauffions autour du foyer, elle me disait: «Tu seras prêtre et tu auras une belle paroisse; Comme ça tu rendras heureux tes parents aussi ". La réponse de Filiberto quelques jours plus tard, après avoir vu le film projeté par le P. Patacconi Laissez-le aller, était : " Maman, je ne deviendrai pas un prêtre, mais un missionnaire, j’irai en Afrique, en Chine, je serai un grand prédicateur, j’honorerai notre église et chaque enfant que je baptiserai sera votre propre petit-fils. Tu n’es plus contente? "
Il entra à l'Institut à Ancône en 1950, dirigé par le P. Patacconi. Il poursuivait donc le processus de formation des Xavériens alors en vigueur : Ecole moyenne, Ancona (1950-1954) ; Gymnase, Zelarino (1954-1956), le noviciat, San Pietro in Vincoli (1956-1957) ; Première profession le 12.09.1957 ; École secondaire, Desio (1957-1960) ; Propédeutique, Parme (1960-1961); Expérience pastorale et la première année de théologie, Alzano et séminaire de Bergame (1961-1962) ; Théologie, Parme (1962-1965). Il a été ordonné prêtre à Parme le 25.10. 1964. " Il peut être admis sans hésitation -écrivaient ses formateurs - bon caractère; bien doté d’esprit pratique, appliqué généreusement au travail manuel. Il a une bonne piété, l'engagement louable de sa vie intérieure ".
Après son ordination, il a été envoyé en Indonésie qui l’a atteinte en 1966. Il fut Vicaire à Bukittinggi et, à partir de 1968 à 1977, il fut curé à Kota Baru : Mahakaria dans la forêt mythique de Pasaman.
" C’est ma vie - écrit dans Missionnaires Xavériens, Juillet 1974 – Célébrer la messe, prier, faire le cathéchisme, courir pour sauver un malade, organiser une activité, aller dans la forêt, salir mes mains dans les champs de riz, diriger les écoles … est, j’y tiens à le dire, « la vie sacerdotale ». Samedi dernier, j’étais jusqu’à minuit dehors pour assister un camion chargé de bois qui se retirait dans la boue; l’autre jour, je suis allé avec un groupe de chrétiens dans les marais pour étudier un plan d'assainissement; avant hier, j’ai commencé le moulin pour la farine de manioc : la transpiration comme une course de poulain, blanc comme un meunier ... et seulement 60 kg de farine! La nuit, cependant, il ya encore un peu de temps pour enseigner le catéchisme, aider certains malades, enseigner une chanson aux enfants et prier. Un sacerdoce ... évangélique. "
En 1977, il fut rappelé en Italie pour l’ajournement. Chargé de l’animation missionnaire à Cagliari, il a été un outil efficace reliant les communautés chrétiennes de la Sardaigne et les nouvelles christianités des missions.
En 1984, en raison des difficultés d'avoir le visa d’entrée en Indonésie, il a été affecté à la mission de la Sierra Leone : il a travaillé dans la pastorale (vicaire à Kambia et Kamalu ) et principalement il a servi les confrères et le Diocèse de Makeni comme économe et procureur diocésain.
De 1998 à 2007 - cette fois à cause de la guerre civile en Sierra Leone –il a travaillé encore en Sardaigne : Recteur, animateur et économe à Macomer et à Cagliari. Naturellement le P. Filiberto voulait la mission : «C’est depuis huit ans que je suis en Italie et je me sens mal à l'aise. D'autres fois, j’ai exprimé mon désir de repartir, je le répète aujourd'hui avec toute la force de mon appartenance à une congrégation missionnaire. Je suis un xavérien qui est en train de battre le record du séjour en Sardaigne. Pour de nombreuses raisons, je remercie le Seigneur, mais il est temps de partir.
Suivirent quatre ans en Sierra Leone : pastorale à Fadugu et à Madina. Enfin, à partir de 2012 il est à Parme pour les soins pour offrir consciemment et sereinement le sacrifice rédempteur. Toujours dans la fidélité au choix de 1950. Toujours convaincu que " la vocation missionnaire t’amène vers des horizons imprévisibles où l'Esprit de Dieu devient vent mystérieux qui ne te donnera jamais la certitude de savoir d'où il vient et où il te mène. Une vocation qui ressemble à une ascension à Tabor, qui vive dans le quotidien en tant que citoyen du Calvaire et tu le sens à l'intérieur comme une transfiguration qui te fait dire avec joie : C’est bon, Seigneur, demeurer ici, pourquoi nous ne dressons pas trois tentes ... "(2009).
