(1935-2020)
Il 19.03.2020, poco dopo mezzogiorno, è deceduto a Parma, in Casa Madre, Fr. Giuseppe Scintu. Il confratello aveva 85 anni, essendo nato ad Ales (Cagliari – IT) il 02.02.1935.
Dopo una significativa esperienza lavorativa come muratore, nel dicembre 1957 il giovane Giuseppe entra nella casa saveriana di Brescia dove trascorre alcuni mesi di probandato. Nel dicembre del 1958 inizia l’anno di noviziato a S. Pietro in Vincoli, dove il 15.11.1959 emette la Prima Professione religiosa-missionaria.
Dopo la professione, a fr. Giuseppe viene chiesto di svolgere il servizio di addetto alla casa in diverse comunità saveriane: Macomer (1959-1963), Cagliari (1963-1966), S. Pietro in Vincoli (1966-1967), Piacenza (1967-1968).
Nel settembre del 1968 fr. Giuseppe parte per la missione del Congo. Dopo aver studiato la lingua dapprima a Bujumbura (1968-1969) e poi nel Seminario di Mungombe (1969-1971) viene destinato all’episcopio di Uvira come economo locale (1971-1973).
Dopo un anno di vacanza-riposo in Italia (1973-1974), fr. Giuseppe ritorna in Congo dove lavora come incaricato delle costruzioni in varie località: Uvira (1974-1976), Mungombe (1976-1977), Uvira (1978-1981), Bukavu (1981-1985), Uvira (1985-1988), Bukavu (1988-1989), Walungu (1989-1990), Bunyakiri (1990-1993), Cimpunda (1993-1994), Luvungi (1994-1995).
Nel 1995 fr. Giuseppe viene richiamato in Italia e destinato come aiuto economo alla comunità di S. Pietro in Vincoli (1995-1996). Dopo alcuni mesi trascorsi a Parigi come addetto alla casa (1996-1997), rientra in Italia per un servizio nella Casa Madre di Parma, come addetto alla casa (1997-2010) e nell’assistenza ai malati (2005-2011).
Dopo qualche tempo passato in famiglia per cure (2011-2013), nel gennaio 2014 fr. Giuseppe viene destinato alla comunità di Ancona come addetto alla casa, ma nel mese di marzo deve rientrare a Parma per cure.
Il 19.03.2020 fr. Giuseppe viene portato dagli Angeli al cospetto dell’Altissimo per ricevere la ricompensa del servitore fedele.

Bro. GIUSEPPE SCINTU

Bro. Giuseppe Scintu, s.x. passed away in the Mother House of Parma on March 19th, 2020. Bro. Giuseppe Scintu was born on February 2nd, 1935, in the town of Ales (Cagliari - IT), and was now 85 years old.
After a long and significant work experience in the area of construction, in the month of December 1957, the young Giuseppe entered the Xaverian House of Brescia, residing there for several months. In the month of December, Giuseppe Scintu began his year of Novitiate in the town of S. Pietro in Vincoli, Ravenna. On November 15th, 1959, there was the celebration of his First Religious Missionary Profession. Right after, Giuseppe Scintu was asked to assist in various services in the Xaverian Communities: Macomer (1959-1963), Cagliari (1963-1966), S. Pietro in Vincoli (1966-1967), Piacenza (1967-1968).
In the month of September, Bro. Giuseppe left for the mission of Congo. First, he studied the language in Bujumbura (1968-1969) and, then, at the Diocesan Seminary of Mungombe (1969- 1971). Afterwards he was assigned to the Bishop House of Uvira as a local Treasurer (1971-1973).
There followed a year of rest in Italy (1973-1974). A bit later, Bro. Giuseppe Scintu returned to Congo where he was in charge of various contructions in the area: Uvira (1974-1976), Mungombe (1976-1977), Uvira (1974-1976), Mungombe (1976-1977), Uvira (1978-1981), Bukavu (1981-1985), Uvira (1984-19885), Bukavu (1988-1989), Walungu (1989-1990), Bunyakiri (1990-1993), Cimpunda (1993-1994), Luvungi (1994-1995).
In the year 1995, Bro. Scintu was asked to returned to Italy and was assigned as assistant Treasurer to the Xaverian House of San Pietro in Vincoli (1995-1996). After some months spent in Paris, he returned to Italy and resided in the Mother House of Parma, assisting in the various works of the House (1997-2010), and assisting also in the care of the sick confreres (2005-2011).
After some months spent with his family to provide for his health needs (2011-2013), in the month of January 2015, Bro. Giuseppe Scintu will have to return to the Mother House of Parma to provide for his needs.
On March 19th, 2020, Bro. Giuseppe Scintu was brought by the Angels to receive his reward of the faithful and loving servant.
