Il Dicastero delle cause dei santi ha organizzato presso l’Istituto Patristico Augustinianum di Roma, dal 13 al 16 novembre 2023,  un convegno che aveva come titolo “La santità è un dono di Dio alla comunità”, sottolineando come la santità non sia mai una questione privata. Il santo mette in connessione i fratelli con Cristo e perciò è uno strumento di comunione e di relazione. Santità è accoglienza di un dono che Dio fa a tutta la Chiesa chiamando tutti e ciascuno all’incontro con Lui. È la vocazione universale alla santità richiamata dal concilio Vaticano II . “Tutti siamo chiamati alla santità: è la misura stessa della vita cristiana”, diceva Benedetto XVI (13 aprile 2011). Papa Francesco, similmente nella Gaudete et exsultate, 6 afferma che “Dio ci attrae tenendo conto della complessa trama di relazioni interpersonali che si stabiliscono nella comunità umana: Dio ha voluto entrare in una dinamica popolare, nella dinamica di un popolo”.

From November 13^th to 16^th, 2023, the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints organised a conference at the Patristic Institute Augustinianum in Rome under the title Holiness is a Gift of God to the Community, which underlies the fact that holiness is never a private issue. A saint connects his brothers with Christ and, therefore, is an instrument of communion and relationship. Holiness consists in welcoming a gift that God gives to the entire Church, and which calls all and each one to the encounter with Him. This is about the universal call to holiness which the II Vatican Council reminded of. “We are all called to holiness: Holiness is the very measure of Christian life,” said Benedict XVI (April 13^th, 2011). Similarly, Pope Francis affirms in Gaudete et Exsultate No. 6 that “God draws us to himself, taking into account the complex fabric of interpersonal relationships present in a human community. God wanted to enter into the life and history of a people.”
