Era nato a Poggio S. Marcello (AN) il 4.I.1905: dopo aver fatto l'operaio, era stato assunto come cuoco nella Scuola Apostolica Saveriana del suo Paese. Fu durante questo periodo che maturò in lui il desiderio di farsi Missionario:
"Come sia venuta la mia vocazione - scrive al P. Armelloni il 4.V.1930 - lo può immaginare. Sono 4 anni che presto servizio presso questa Casa Missionaria, dunque, dice il proverbio che chi va con i lupi impara a urlare...".
A 25 anni entrava nell'Istituto Saveriano. Emessa la Professione il 3.XII.1931, chiese ed ottenne di partire per la Cina. Dal Novembre 1934 prestò la sua preziosa attività in diversi lavori manuali alla "Domus" di Cheng-chow - doratura di calici, meccanica, cura dell'orto, della casa, della vigna, del dispensano - alternandoli all'attività catechetica a Pe-chonan.
Durante la guerra cino-giapponese egli si offrì per prestare i primi soccorsi ai feriti. Scrive 1'8.V.1938:
"Il capostazione ha messo a nostra disposizione tre stanze. Quando il treno ò in partenza dall'ultima stazione, il capostazione ci fa avvisare: allora noi portiamo due tavoli sotto la tettoia della stazione con tutto il necessario. Ogni Padre o Fratello ha la relativa cassetta con disinfettanti, garze e ferri e due giovani aiutanti. Appena il treno arriva, uno con una Suora resta al tavolo mentre tutti gli altri salgono sui vagoni a curare i feriti".
Dopo aver aggiunto che molta gente della città, ammirata per quest'opera, è venuta incontro con offerte, aggiunge:
"Oggi ci danno i soldi, ma domani ci daranno il cuore per darlo al Signore. Questo vogliamo, non altro: non onori, non faccia, ma il cuore di questi poveri pagani".
Quando le bombe distrussero la Cattedrale di Cheng-chow, il 13.V.1938, scriveva:
"Questa volta ò stata presa di mira la Chiesa. Il diavolo si vendica del bene che si cerca di fare".
Poi per tre anni subì, con i Confratelli il campo di concentramento. Richiamato in Italia nel giugno 1947, per sei anni diede la sua collaborazione alla formazione degli Aspiranti Fratelli Coadiutori, a Cremona e poi a Parma.
Dietro sua richiesta, nel 1953, fu inviato in Brasile ove riprese lo stesso ritmo di lavoro e le stesse attività esercitate in Cina.
Durante una vacanza in Italia, nel 1964, gli fu riscontrata una atrofia al ventri-colo destro e la pressione alta: ritornò ugualmente in Brasile, ove rimase per altri 6 anni.
Nel 1970 dovette rientrare definitivamente in Italia. Le sue condizioni di salute andarono sempre peggiorando e il Signore lo prese con sè il 9.VIII.1975.

Brother Amedeo Sansoni died at the hospital of Ancona on Aug. 9 1975, following ventricular atrophy. He was 70 years old, born on Jan. 4 1905 at Poggio San Marcello (Ancona).
Br. Amedeo knew the Xaverians at Poggio S. Marcello, because he was the community cook for four years, before asking to enter. Writing to Fr. Armelloni on May 4 1930, he explains: “How my vocation mature, you can imagine. It’s been four years that I serve this missionary community, and so, as the proverb goes, ‘Those who go with wolfs, learn how to howl.’”
He was 25 years old when he entered in Parma on June 7 1930. Following the year of Novitiate, he professed religious vows on Dec. 3 1931, and was assigned to China. From November 1934 till the time of his expulsion, he worked as a mechanic, as a gardener, as house up keeper, as a vine grower, as a nurse, as a sacristan, and a catechist at Pe-chonan.
During the Chinese-Japanese war, he was one of the first to give relieve to the injured, as he wrote in this letter of May 8 1938: “The head of the train station gave us three rooms for us. When the train is on its way, he calls us, and we go with two tables and lots of first-aid equipment. Each priest or brother has a first-aid kit and a couple of young student helpers. A religious sister goes to the table, while all the others go from wagon to wagon, to help the injured… Many people offer us money for this great deed, but in the future they will give us their heart, to give it to the Lord. This is what we want, nothing else: not honors, but the heart of these poor people.”
When the bombs destroyed the Cathedral of Cheng-chow, he wrote: “This time the Church is the target. The devil vindicates himself for the good that we are trying to do.” (May 13 1938). Br. Amedeo suffered three years of concentration camp, like the other Xaverians, and was recalled back to Italy in June 1947, to help in the formation of Brothers at Cremona and Parma.
In 1953, he asked to be sent to Brazil, where he continued the same services he did in China. During a vacation in Italy in 1964, he experienced ventricular atrophy, but went back to Brazil, for 6 more years, until his final return to Italy, at Poggio S. Marcello, till the day of his death.
