Mercoledì 1° luglio 2026 il Philosophat Isidore Bakanja (PIB) ha celebrato la cerimonia di conferimento dei gradi accademici, che ha segnato anche la chiusura ufficiale dell’anno accademico 2025-2026.

Aperto il 1° ottobre 2025, quest’anno accademico è stato particolarmente segnato da un contesto difficile sul piano della sicurezza e della sanità. È dunque con uno spirito di profonda gratitudine che la comunità del Philosophat ha reso grazie a Dio per il suo costante accompagnamento, Lui che ha guidato l’istituzione lungo tutto il suo cammino alla ricerca della sapienza.

La giornata è iniziata con una celebrazione eucaristica presieduta da p. Bernard Cibambo, SX, Superiore regionale dei Missionari Saveriani in Congo, in rappresentanza del Gran Cancelliere del PIB, p. Arsène Kapya, M.Afr., impossibilitato a partecipare.

Nella sua omelia, il celebrante ha sottolineato che questa Eucaristia era ben più di una semplice celebrazione di fine anno: costituiva un vero rendimento di grazie, alla luce delle numerose prove attraversate nel corso dell’anno. Ha invitato l’assemblea a trasformare la gioia di questa conclusione in una preghiera di riconoscenza a Dio per tutto il bene compiuto, ricordando al tempo stesso che ogni autentico rendimento di grazie presuppone uno sguardo lucido sulle insufficienze e sulle debolezze incontrate, insieme a un’umile richiesta di perdono.

Rifacendosi al libro del profeta Amos, p. Bernard Cibambo ha implorato per il Philosophat la grazia di essere una scuola che promuove la pace, la giustizia e il servizio dei più piccoli, conformemente alla sua missione. Alla luce del Vangelo, ha esortato ciascuno a individuare i «territori pagani» della propria vita, per lasciarvi penetrare la forza trasformatrice del Vangelo. Ha inoltre invitato a riconoscere le nostre fragilità e i nostri «sepolcri», quegli spazi della nostra esistenza di cui non sempre andiamo fieri, affinché diventino luoghi in cui si manifesta la grazia di Dio. Infine, ha ricordato che vivere nei sepolcri significa anche coltivare una visione pessimistica della vita, vedere il male ovunque e chiudersi nelle tenebre; ha incoraggiato ciascuno a imparare piuttosto a discernere il bene presente nel proprio fratello.

Dopo la celebrazione eucaristica, il Segretario generale accademico del PIB, p. David Songo Doo, M.Afr., ha dato lettura del rapporto accademico. In tale occasione ha annunciato la fine del suo mandato e la nomina di p. Emmanuel Ntaboba, CRSP, come suo successore. Ha inoltre annunciato le partenze dei padri Bernard Ugeux, M.Afr., e Barthélemy Minani, SX, chiamati ciascuno a proseguire una nuova missione.

La cerimonia è proseguita con la consegna dei certificati dei voti agli studenti che avevano convalidato tutti i loro crediti già nella prima sessione, promozione dopo promozione, seguita dal conferimento dei gradi accademici agli studenti dell’ultimo anno, ora licenziati in Filosofia e Scienze umane.

La certificazione ufficiale dei nuovi licenziati è stata assicurata da p. Aimé Mitengezo, SX, Segretario generale amministrativo del PIB, in rappresentanza del Rettore, p. Barthélemy Minani, SX, impossibilitato a partecipare.

Infine, p. Bernard Cibambo, SX, rappresentante del Gran Cancelliere, ha proceduto alla lettura ufficiale dell’atto di chiusura dell’anno accademico 2025-2026.

Posta sotto il segno del rendimento di grazie, la giornata si è conclusa in un clima di gioia e di fraternità, attorno a un momento conviviale di condivisione.

Prima di congedarsi dalla comunità accademica, il Segretario generale accademico uscente ha augurato a tutti ottime vacanze, uno stage fruttuoso e un autentico tempo di rigenerazione, per tornare con nuovo slancio per l’anno accademico 2026-2027. Ha ricordato che la messa di apertura del prossimo anno accademico è fissata per il 30 settembre 2026, mentre i corsi inizieranno il 1° ottobre 2026.

BUKAVU – Clôture de l’année académique 2025-2026

Ce mercredi 1er juillet 2026, le Philosophat Isidore Bakanja (PIB) a célébré la cérémonie de collation des grades académiques, qui a également marqué la clôture officielle de l’année académique 2025-2026.

Ouverte le 1er octobre 2025, cette année académique aura été particulièrement marquée par un contexte sécuritaire et sanitaire difficile. C’est donc dans un esprit de profonde gratitude que la communauté du Philosophat a rendu grâce à Dieu pour son accompagnement constant, lui qui a guidé l’institution tout au long de son cheminement à la recherche de la sagesse.

La journée a débuté par une célébration eucharistique présidée par le P. Bernard Cibambo, SX, Supérieur régional des Missionnaires Xavériens au Congo, représentant le Grand Chancelier du PIB, le P. Arsène Kapya, M.Afr., empêché.

Dans son homélie, le célébrant a souligné que cette Eucharistie était bien plus qu’une simple célébration de fin d’année : elle constituait une véritable action de grâce, au regard des nombreuses épreuves traversées au cours de l’année. Il a invité l’assemblée à transformer la joie de cette fin d’année en prière de reconnaissance envers Dieu pour tout le bien accompli, tout en rappelant que toute authentique action de grâce suppose un regard lucide sur les insuffisances et les faiblesses rencontrées, ainsi qu’une humble demande de pardon.

S’appuyant sur le livre du prophète Amos, le P. Bernard Cibambo a imploré pour le Philosophat la grâce d’être une école qui promeut la paix, la justice et le service des plus petits, conformément à sa mission. À la lumière de l’Évangile, il a exhorté chacun à identifier les « territoires païens » de sa propre vie, afin d’y laisser pénétrer la force transformatrice de l’Évangile. Il a également invité à reconnaître nos fragilités et nos « sépulcres », ces espaces de notre existence dont nous ne sommes pas toujours fiers, pour qu’ils deviennent des lieux où se manifeste la grâce de Dieu. Enfin, il a rappelé que vivre dans les sépulcres, c’est aussi entretenir une vision pessimiste de la vie, voir le mal partout et s’enfermer dans les ténèbres ; il a encouragé chacun à apprendre plutôt à discerner le bien présent en son frère.

Après la célébration eucharistique, le Secrétaire général académique du PIB, le P. David Songo Doo, M.Afr., a donné lecture du rapport académique. À cette occasion, il a annoncé la fin de son mandat et la nomination du P. Emmanuel Ntaboba, CRSP, comme son successeur. Il a également annoncé les départs des Pères Bernard Ugeux, M.Afr., et Barthélemy Minani, SX, appelés chacun à poursuivre une nouvelle mission.

La cérémonie s’est poursuivie par la remise des relevés de cotes aux étudiants ayant validé l’ensemble de leurs crédits dès la première session, promotion après promotion, puis par la collation des grades académiques aux étudiants finalistes, désormais licenciés en Philosophie et Sciences humaines.

La certification officielle des nouveaux licenciés a été assurée par le P. Aimé Mitengezo, SX, Secrétaire général administratif du PIB, représentant le Recteur, le P. Barthélemy Minani, SX, empêché.

Enfin, le P. Bernard Cibambo, SX, représentant du Grand Chancelier, a procédé à la lecture officielle de l’acte de clôture de l’année académique 2025-2026.

Placée sous le signe de l’action de grâce, la journée s’est achevée dans une ambiance de joie et de fraternité, autour d’un moment de partage convivial.

Avant de prendre congé de la communauté académique, le Secrétaire général académique sortant a souhaité à tous d’excellentes vacances, un stage fructueux et un véritable temps de ressourcement, afin de revenir avec un nouvel élan pour l’année académique 2026-2027. Il a rappelé que la messe d’ouverture de la prochaine année académique est fixée au 30 septembre 2026 et que les cours débuteront le 1er octobre 2026.

BUKAVU – Closing of the 2025-2026 Academic Year

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Philosophat Isidore Bakanja (PIB) held its degree-conferral ceremony, which also marked the official closing of the 2025-2026 academic year.

Opened on October 1, 2025, this academic year was particularly marked by a difficult security and health situation. It was therefore in a spirit of deep gratitude that the Philosophat community gave thanks to God for His constant accompaniment, He who guided the institution throughout its journey in search of wisdom.

The day began with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Bernard Cibambo, SX, Regional Superior of the Xaverian Missionaries in Congo, representing the PIB’s Grand Chancellor, Fr. Arsène Kapya, M.Afr., who was unable to attend.

In his homily, the celebrant emphasized that this Eucharist was much more than a simple end-of-year celebration: it was a true act of thanksgiving, in light of the many trials endured over the course of the year. He invited the assembly to turn the joy of this year’s end into a prayer of gratitude to God for all the good accomplished, while recalling that every authentic act of thanksgiving requires a clear-eyed look at one’s shortcomings and weaknesses, together with a humble request for forgiveness.

Drawing on the book of the prophet Amos, Fr. Bernard Cibambo implored for the Philosophat the grace to be a school that promotes peace, justice, and service to the least, in keeping with its mission. In the light of the Gospel, he urged everyone to identify the “pagan territories” of their own lives, so as to let the transforming power of the Gospel enter them. He also invited all to acknowledge their frailties and their “tombs” — those areas of our lives we are not always proud of — so that they may become places where God’s grace is revealed. Finally, he recalled that dwelling in the tombs also means nurturing a pessimistic view of life, seeing evil everywhere, and shutting oneself away in darkness; he encouraged everyone instead to learn to discern the good present in their brother.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the PIB’s Academic Secretary General, Fr. David Songo Doo, M.Afr., read the academic report. On this occasion, he announced the end of his term and the appointment of Fr. Emmanuel Ntaboba, CRSP, as his successor. He also announced the departures of Frs. Bernard Ugeux, M.Afr., and Barthélemy Minani, SX, each called to take up a new mission.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of transcripts to the students who had passed all their credits in the first session, class by class, followed by the conferral of academic degrees on the graduating students, now holders of a licentiate in Philosophy and Human Sciences.

The official certification of the new graduates was carried out by Fr. Aimé Mitengezo, SX, the PIB’s Administrative Secretary General, representing the Rector, Fr. Barthélemy Minani, SX, who was unable to attend.

Finally, Fr. Bernard Cibambo, SX, representing the Grand Chancellor, gave the official reading of the act of closure of the 2025-2026 academic year.

Placed under the sign of thanksgiving, the day ended in an atmosphere of joy and fraternity, around a convivial moment of sharing.

Before taking leave of the academic community, the outgoing Academic Secretary General wished everyone an excellent vacation, a fruitful internship, and a true time of renewal, so as to return with fresh momentum for the 2026-2027 academic year. He reminded all that the opening Mass of the next academic year is set for September 30, 2026, with classes beginning on October 1, 2026.
