La mattina del 24 ottobre 2011, P. Bruno Boschetti, mentre stava tornando a casa dalla parrocchia di Inhangoma, si è sentito male. Per fortuna non era lontano dall'ospedale di Mutarara;, ma nulla si poté contro l'infarto in atto: poco dopo, intorno alle 7.30, cessava di vivere. Aveva 65 anni compiuti, essendo nato a Martorano di Cesena (Forlì) il 14.01.1946.
P. Bruno entrò tra i Saveriani nella Casa del Noviziato di S. Pietro in Vincoli nel 1963. Aveva frequentato come seminarista della diocesi di Cesena la prima liceo nel Pontificio Seminario Regionale di Bologna.«Da parte dei genitori nessun impedimento, anzi molti incoraggiamenti a proseguire per la strada che il Signore mi sta indicando» (Lett. al P. Maestro, 29.4.63).
Fatto l'anno di Noviziato, il 3 ottobre 1964 emise la Prima Professione. Passò quindi a Tavernerio per la seconda e terza Liceo. Poi, di seguito, a Parma, propedeutica; a Zelarino, Prefettato; a Parma, Teologia e ordinazione Presbiterale il 24 settembre 1972.
Nella circostanza, nella presentazione per gli Ordini Maggiori si diceva di P. Bruno: «Non c'è nulla da dire se non in bene. Temperamento felice, ricco in capacità di amare, iniziativa, costanza, autonomia, concretezza: qualità, oggi, quanto mai preziose: il bel tutto con una vena di serenità e di sano ottimismo, che danno l'ultimo tocco. C'è motivo di sperare che sarà un apostolo di successo in tutti i campi. Se avesse studiato anche di più, sarebbe anche più perfetto».
Ma per il suo futuro di missionario il P. Bruno aveva già definito una sua prospettiva: «I miei anni di formazione sono stati tutti incentrati in uno scopo ben preciso: le missioni. Anche la multiforme attività catechistica svolta in questi anni l'ho intesa come preparazione al lavoro missionario» (1972).
Uscì dalla Teologia con la destinazione alla missione dell'Indonesia, come da lui ardentemente desiderato e richiesto. E si trovò veramente bene: «Questa gente non finisce di stupirmi. La chiesa è molto giovane e ha in sé una vitalità e una carica di speranza veramente invidiabili. Il nostro tempo lo trascorriamo in gran parte nei viaggi: siamo pochi e le distanze sono immense» (MS, feb 1975).
Rimase in Indonesia sei anni (1973-1979), impegnato nella pastorale parrocchiale a Bukittinggi e Siberut.
Richiamato in Italia (1979-1985) per l'avvicendamento, fece parte delle comunità di Cagliari, Taranto, Cremona e Ancona. Fu anche Consigliere Regionale. Nell'insieme furono cinque anni vissuti con una certa insofferenza a causa della profonda nostalgia della missione.
Alla fine dell'avvicendamento P. Bruno fu nuovamente inviato in missione. Non più in Indonesia, che nel frattempo si era chiusa, ma in Brasile dove, dal 1985 al 1998, animò le parrocchie di Pinhais, di S. Luzia a Belo Horizonte e di S. Francisco Xavier a Piracicaba, facendone delle comunità missionarie.
Nel 1998 l'ultimo mandato missionario: l'invio in Mozambico insieme al piccolo drappello saveriano, a servire pastoralmente le comunità di Chemba e di Charre: «Sono contento di essere in questo angolo d'Africa. Ci sono tutti gli ingredienti della vita missionaria 'classica': fiume, foresta, tanti animali, ma soprattutto tanta gente simpatica che ti accoglie con gioia e in festa» (MS, aprile 99).
«Sia a Chemba che a Charre ha trovato la missione distrutta - ecco la testimonianza di qualche confratello – e per prima cosa hanno ricostruito la chiesa e la scuola: le voleva ben fatte e pulite. Insisteva molto sulla scuola e nell'accompagnamento dei giovani studenti. Diceva: "Se riescono bene, saranno apostoli"». Contemporaneamente si prodigò per incrementare
«P. Bruno ha sempre risposto al Signore in modo entusiasta. Non era un uomo delle mezze misure. Parlava in modo incisivo, coglieva gli aspetti reali, anche tragici, delle situazioni, non edulcorava la realtà, non si tirava indietro. Si coinvolgeva personalmente, infondeva coraggio e gioia a chi gli era vicino. Era sempre positivo. Non cercava privilegi per sée non voleva titoli altisonanti, ma era sempre in prima linea quando occorreva iniziare una nuova missione o bisognava prestarsi per un nuovo servizio».
Il Signore lo accolga nel suo Paradiso.

Fr. Bruno Boschetti became unwell on the morning of 24 October 2011 as he was returning home from the parish of Inhangoma (Mozambique). He was admitted to the nearby hospital of Mutarara, but all efforts to save him were invain: Fr. Bruno died of a heart attack shortly after his arrival.
Born at Martorano di Cesena (Forlì, Italy), on 14 January 1946, he was 65 years old.
Fr. Bruno joined the Xaverians for Novitiate in the community of S. Pietro in Vincoli in 1963. He had previously attended the Pontifical Regional Seminary of Bologna as a seminarian for the diocese of Cesena. «My parents did not stand in my way; indeed, they strongly encourage me to pursue the path that the Lord ispointing out to me » (Letter to the Novice Master, 29.4.63).
At the end of Novitiate, he made his First Profession on 3 October 1964. He then moved to Tavernerio where he completed his High School studies. Thereafter, he was sent to Parma, for propaedeutics, to Zelarino as Prefect, then back to Parma for Theology. He was ordained priest on 24 Sep tem ber 1972.
The report presenting him for Major Orders said: «We can only speak highly of him. He has a good temperament and a deep capacity for love, initiative, constancy, autonomy and concreteness, qualities that are crowned with serenity and a healthy optimism. There is every sign that he will be a successful apostle in every field. If he had studied more, he would be perfect ».
Fr. Bruno, however, had his sights clearly set on the mission: «My formation years were all geared towards a very specific goal: the missions. The very varied catechetical activity I carried out during these years was also done as a preparation for missionary work » (1972).
After Theology he was assigned to the mission of Indonesia, in compliance with his deep desire and request. He was truly happy there: «The people never fail to amaze me. The Church is very young and possesses vitality and great hope that are really enviable. We spend most of our time in the villages: we are few in number and the distances to be covered are immense » (Missionari Saveriani, Feb 1975).
Fr. Bruno remained in Indonesia for six years (1973-1979), working in the parish pastoral ministry at Bukittinggi and Siberut.
He was called back to Italy (1979-1985) on rotation and worked in the communities of Cagliari, Taranto, Cremona and Ancona. He also served as Regional Councilor. Over all, he lived these years with a certain impatience because of his deep nostalgia for the mission. At the end of his rotation period, he was assigned once again to the mission. This time he was not sent to Indonesia, which had been closed in the meantime, but to Brazil (1985-1998), where he animated the parishes of Pinhais, S. Luzia at Belo Horizonte and S. Francisco Xavier a Piracicaba, building up missionary communities.
In 1998 he received his last missionary mandate: he was sent to Mozambique, with a small group of Xaverians, to work in the pastoral ministry in the communities of Chemba and Charre: «I am very happy to be in this part of Africa. There are all the ingredients of the ‘classic’ missionary life: rivers, forests, many animals but, above all, a lot of kind people who have welcomed us with joy and celebration» (Missionari Saveriani, April 1999).
The testimony of some confreres tells us that «he found the missions destroyed at Chemba and Charre and the first thing he did was to rebuild the Church and the school: he wanted them to be solid and clean. He insisted a lot on the school and the accompaniment of the young students. He used to say: “If they turn out well, they will become apostles”.
« Fr. Bruno always responded to the Lord with enthusiasm. He was not a man of half measures. He spoke in an incisive manner, he grasped the real aspects of situations, even the tragic ones, he did not water reality down, he never pulled back.
He got personally involved, he instilled courage and joy in those who were near to him. He was always positive. He did not seek privileges for himself, nor did he want any pompous titles, but he was always on the front line when it was necessary to begin a new mission, or to volunteer for a new service ».
