Dal 6 al 10 novembre 2023 si è tenuto alla “Fraterna Domus” il workshop internazionale sulla tutela negli istituti religiosi, promosso da UISG e USG (le due Unioni dei Superiori e delle Superiore generali). Il seminario si è avvalso della presenza di oltre 130 partecipanti di 39 nazionalità diverse.

L'obiettivo del workshop è stato quello di aiutare coloro che hanno la responsabilità della cura e protezione a costruire una cultura della tutela nelle loro congregazioni religiose.

I partecipanti hanno avuto la possibilità di apprendere, condividere esperienze e collaborare per promuovere un ambiente sicuro e inclusivo per tutti i membri delle congregazioni religiose e le persone alle quali servono, specialmente minori e adulti in situazioni di vulnerabilità. Cinque i punti studiati: 1) “fornire una formazione completa sui passi da compiere per creare una cultura della tutela attraverso la protezione e la prevenzione”; 2) “offrire informazioni dettagliate sull’abuso di minori e adulti vulnerabili, compresi i membri religiosi e i giovani in formazione”; 3) “dare voce ai sopravvissuti, consentendo loro di condividere le proprie storie”; 4) “approfondire la conoscenza sulle pratiche di prevenzione degli abusi, inclusa la formazione, il reclutamento e l’attuazione di politiche”; 5) “esplorare le modalità di risposta ai problemi, tra cui la gestione delle accuse, il ruolo del diritto civile e canonico, la cura delle persone colpite da abuso e la comunicazione efficace con gli altri”.

From November 6^th to 10^th, 2023, promoted by the UISG and USG (the two Unions of Superior Generals of men and women religious), an international workshop on safeguarding in religious congregations was held at the Fraterna Domus. The workshop benefitted from the presence of more than 130 participants representing 39 nationalities. Aim of the workshop was to help those with responsibility for care and protection to build a culture of safeguarding in their religious congregations.

Participants had the chance to learn, share experiences and collaborate to promote a safe and inclusive environment for all members of religious congregations and the people they serve, especially minors and vulnerable adults.

The five main objectives of the workshop were: 1) “provide comprehensive training on the steps to be taken to create a culture of safeguarding through protection and prevention;” 2) “provide detailed information on the theme of the abuse of minors, vulnerable adults, religious members, and young people in training;” 3) “give voice to the victims of abuse, allowing them to share their stories;” 4) “deepen knowledge of abuse prevention practices, including training and implementation of procedures to be adopted in the context of safeguarding;” 5) “explore ways to respond to problems, including handling of allegations, the role of civil and canon law, caring for abused persons and communicating effectively with others.”
