Carissimi Confratelli, Sorelle saveriane, Laici sx e Amici tutti.
Quando arriviamo alla Pasqua mi piace ricordare la storiella del cane e della lepre. Si tratta di un cane che vede una lepre e inizia la corsa per catturarla. Gli altri cani lo vedono correre e anche loro si uniscono a lui, ma siccome non hanno visto la lepre, la fatica della corsa si fa più forte e incominciano a ritirarsi l'uno dopo l'altro. Rimane in corsa il cane che per primo ha visto la lepre: nella sua costanza, riesce a catturarla.
La risurrezione del Signore è un'esperienza simile, unica e personale. Non si può avere una fede viva nel Signore, come quella che è capace di muovere le montagne, se non si ha questo incontro personale con Gesù risorto. È l'esperienza dei primi discepoli. In questo incontro c'è un prima e un dopo. Gesù appare loro ed essi diventano, per la forza di questo incontro unico, apostoli missionari ad vitam di questa Buona Notizia.
I frutti di questa esperienza personale e comunitaria di Gesù risorto sono tanti. Mi permetto di indicare i tre che considero principali:
1. La certezza che il Signore è con me, con noi. La presenza del Signore dà una grande serenità, pace, gioia e forza interiore. Il Signore è vivo nella mia vita e in quella dei miei fratelli e sorelle. Quello che mi si chiede è di dare fiducia al Signore risorto e di rinnovare questo primo incontro.
2. È un'esperienza personale ma anche comunitaria. "Abbiamo visto il Signore". La Chiesa nasce con il soffio della risurrezione del Signore. I primi discepoli incontrano il Signore in comunità, anche quando sono scoraggiati e non ci credono più e, quando sono lontani da essa, tornano alla comunità per condividere quello che hanno visto e vissuto.
La vita comunitaria è il luogo per eccellenza dove si vive la comunione di Dio con l'umanità, manifestata, in una maniera definitiva, nella potenza della risurrezione del Signore.
3. La proclamazione del ‘ kerygma ‘, annunciato fino ai confini del mondo. "Il Signore Gesù è morto e risorto per la salvezza dell'umanità". L'esperienza della risurrezione del Signore diventa impegno missionario. Più grande e vera è questa esperienza, più imperioso si sente il bisogno e l'urgenza di annunciarla.
Auguro a ognuno di voi, ad ogni comunità e ad ogni componente della nostra Famiglia saveriana, la grazia di vivere il dono pasquale.

Dear Confreres, Missionaries of Mary, Lay Xaverians and Friends.
When Easter comes around I like to remember the story of the dog and the hare: a dog sees a hare and runs to catch it; other dogs see him and join him in the hunt, but since they haven’t actually seen the hare, they tire and begin to drop out one by one. The dog who first saw the hare perseveres and catches it.
The Lord’s resurrection is a similar experience, unique and personal. We cannot have a living faith in the Lord, a faith that can move mountains, unless we have a personal encounter with the Risen Christ. It is the experience of the first disciples. In this encounter there is a before and after. Jesus appears to them and, by virtue of the power of this unique encounter, they become missionary apostles ad vitam of this Good News.
The fruits of this personal and community experience of the Risen Jesus are many and I would like to draw your attention to what I consider to be the most important ones:
1. The certainty that the Lord is with me, with us. The Lord’s presence gives great serenity, peace, joy and inner strength. The Lord is alive in my life and in the life of my brothers and sisters. What I am asked to do is trust in the Risen Lord and renew this first encounter.
2. It is a personal experience, but a community one too. "We have seen the Lord ". The Church was born of the Lord’s resurrection. The first disciples encounter the Lord in community, even when they are discouraged and no longer believe and, when they are far away, they return to the community to share what they have seen and experienced. Community life is the place par excellence for experiencing God’s communion with humanity, which has become definitively visible in the power of the Lord’s resurrection.
3. The proclamation of the ‘ kerygma ‘ to the ends of the earth. "The Lord Jesus died and rose for the salvation of humanity ". The experience of the Lord’s resurrection becomes a missionary commitment. The greater and more authentic this experience is, the more pressing is the need to proclaim it.
I wish each one of you, and every community of our Xaverian Family, the grace to experience the gift of Easter.
