A Parma in Casa Madre, il 23 maggio 2010, alle ore 06.45 è morto il P. Emilio Paloschi, consumato da un tumore al pancreas.
Aveva 74 anni compiuti, essendo nato a S. Salvatore di Sospiro (Cremona) il 26.4.1936.
P. Emilio era una vocazione adulta. Ha maturato la sua scelta vocazionale spinto dal profondo desiderio di dedicarsi alla gente nell'attività pastorale. Così scriveva al Superiore Generale il 10 marzo 1971: «Fino a vent'anni – durante il tempo degli studi – lavorai nell'Azione Cattolica e nella Democrazia Cristiana. Dopo il liceo entrai nel seminario di Cremona proprio perché per me non c'era altro modo di fare il prete che quello di dedicarmi alla gente in un lavoro pastorale. [Nel 1959 passai all'Istituto] solo perché la "Fidei donum" mise talmente l'accento sulla scarsità di preti in missione che decisi di andare là dove il bisogno era più grande». Questo orientamento è evidenziato anche nella più che positiva presentazione per la Prima Professione: «È venuto per farsi missionario e ai Voti religiosi non aveva pensato granché … Poi il Signore ha fatto luce e alla Professione si è preparato bene. Edificante per la sua pietà e anche per il suo spirito di mortificazione e di sacrificio che manifesta nel lavoro manuale».
Emise la Prima Professione a San Pietro in Vincoli il 3 ottobre 1960. Passò quindi a Parma per frequentare la terza e quarta Teologia. Il 15.10.1961 fu ordinato presbitero.
All'uscita della teologia, 1962, P. Emilio fu destinato alla Gran Bretagna per lo studio dell'inglese e per essere impiegato nella formazione degli aspiranti saveriani della Scozia. Invece dopo l'anno di lingua fu inviato in Sierra Leone. La gioia e la sorpresa di ritrovarsi così presto in missione, furono di breve durata: problemi di salute causati dal clima lo costrinsero a rientrare in Italia (1965). L'anno successivo i Superiori, ritornando ai progetti del 1962, lo inviarono nuovamente in Scozia dove fu Padre Spirituale (Cardross, 66-68) e Promotore vocazionale (Coatbridge 68-71).
Nel 1971 rinnovò la richiesta di essere inviato in missione: «io suggerirei, in Brasile. Ho sempre desiderato vivissimamente questo» (Al P. Generale 26.1.71). Ebbe la desiderata destinazione e nel settembre 1973 iniziò il tratto brasiliano della sua vita.
«Nel 74 fu nominato Rettore della Teologia di Curitiba. Nel 75 fu eletto Consigliere Regionale, incaricato della Formazione: si doperò perché le comunità si dotassero del Progetto Comunitario di vita. All'inizio del 77 fu fatto parroco di Nossa Senhora de Fatima a Londrina. Nel 1981 si stabilì nella zona dei Conjuntos, complessi di piccole case popolari che si moltiplicavano come funghi nella periferia della parrocchia e che mancavano di tutto. Dall'84 al 94 lavorò a Embú, nella Zona Sud di São Paulo, prendendosi cura di alcuni rioni con favelas e abitanti poverissimi. Una costante nella sua pastorale: la preoccupazione per la formazione dei laici che continuamente esortava ad aderire a qualche Movimento carismatico e alle Associazioni di Bairro» (Dalla Testimonianza di P. La giornata terrena del P. Emilio comprende una terza tappa in Gran Bretagna: dal 1995 al 2008 appartenne alle comunità di Coatbridge e poi di Preston, incaricato di Giustizia e Pace e impegnato nell'animazione missionaria. Dall'ottobre 2008 era in cura a Parma.
P. Emilio ha servito pastoralmente le persone. Ispirandosi alla Parola. Come scrisse, il 15.7.93, al P. Generale: «Cerco di vivere, io per primo, e aiutare la gente a vivere, il Vangelo, aprendo spazi nuovi dove ciascuno si senta persona con dignità di figlio (a) di Dio Padre/Madre; di creare un clima comunitario di rispetto mutuo e amicizia onde ciascuno con spontaneità e gioia assuma un impegno a favore degli altri … mi dichiaro aperto ad ascoltare e agire, dentro i miei limiti personali, per potere insieme crescere nella fraternità che il nostro Fondatore tanto desiderava».
Il Signore lo accolga nel banchetto eterno del Suo Regno.

Fr. Emilio Paloschi died in the Mother House, Parma, on May 23, 2010, of a pancreatic tumor.
Born in S. Salvatore di Sospiro (Cremona, Italy) on April 26, 1936, he was 74 years old.
Fr. Emilio was an adult vocation. His vocational decision was motivated by the profound desire to dedicate his life to people in the pastoral ministry. He wrote to the Superior General on March 10, 1971: «Until I was twenty – during my study years – I worked in the Catholic Action movement and the Christian Democratic party. After high school, I joined the seminary of Cremona because I believed there was no other way of being a priest than to dedicate my life to the people in pastoral ministry. In 1959, I joined the Xaverians only because Fidei Donum was placing so much emphasis in the lack of priests in the mission that I decided to go where the need was the greatest». This orientation clearly emerges also in the excellent report with which he was presented for First Profession: «He joined us to become a missionary and had not thought very much about the religious vows… Then the Lord enlightened him and he prepared himself well for Religious Profession. His devotional practices and his spirit of mortification are edifying, as well as his dedication to manual work».
He made his First Profession at San Pietro in Vincoli on Oct. 3, 1960. He then moved to Parma for the third and fourth years of Theology. He was ordained priest on Oct. 15, 1961.
In 1962, upon completion of Theology, Fr. Emilio was assigned to Great Britain to study English and for the formation of the missionary aspirants in Scotland. Instead, after the language year, he was sent to Sierra Leone. His joy and surprise at finding himself in the missions so soon was short-lived: health problems caused by the climate forced him to return to Italy in 1965. The following year the Superiors, returning to the 1962 project, sent him once again to Scotland where he served as Spiritual Director (Cardross, 1966-68) and Vocation Promoter (Coatbridge, 1968-71).
In 1971 he renewed his request to be sent to the missions: «I would suggest Brazil. I have always had this very keen desire» (Letter to the Superior General, Jan. 26 1971). His wish was granted and, in September 1973, he began the Brazilian phase of his life.
«In 1974, he was appointed Rector of the Theology in Curitiba. In 1975 he was elected Regional Councilor, put in charge of Formation: he worked to ensure the communities had their Community Life Project. At the beginning of 1977, he was appointed parish priest at Nossa Senhora de Fatima in Londrina. In 1981 he moved to the area of the Conjuntos, a small housing project that was rapidly expanding on the outskirts of the parish and which lacked everything. From 1984 until 1994, he worked in Embù, to the south of São Paolo, looking after some districts of favelas and very poor inhabitants. One constant element of his ministry was his concern for the formation of lay people, who he constantly encouraged to join some Charismatic Movement and the Bairro Associations» (Fr. Fr. Emilio found himself back in Great Britain for the third time where, from 1995 until 2008, he was a member of the communities of Coatbridge and then Preston, where he worked in Justice and Peace and Missionary animation. In October 2008, he was taken into nursing care in Parma.
Fr. Emilio served people through the pastoral ministry, inspired by the Word of God. He wrote to the Superior General on July 15 1993: «With the help of the people, I try to live the Gospel, opening up new spaces in which each person can sense his own dignity as a child of God who is both Father and Mother. I strive to create a community atmosphere of mutual respect and friendship, where each person can spontaneously and joyful take on a commitment in favor of others… I am ready and willing to listen and act, within my personal limits, to grow together in the fraternity that our Founder desired so strongly».
