Carissimi confratelli,

pubblichiamo il Documento di sintesi elaborato dal Comitato Preparatorio del XVIII Capitolo generale (CG). Come descritto nell’introduzione, è uno strumento che raccoglie le riflessioni e le proposte di singoli confratelli e comunità della nostra Famiglia missionaria, sviluppati a partire dai materiali inviati a tutti, attraverso le sei Schede tematiche, per lo studio personale e la condivisione comunitaria. Alla fine del Documento, si trova anche la sintesi degli interventi che i membri della Famiglia carismatica saveriana, le sorelle saveriane e i vari laicati, ci hanno inviato – attraverso la rubrica Caro Capitolo.

Il Documento è già stato inviato qualche giorno fa a tutti i Delegati Capitolari. È responsabilità loro e di tutti noi leggere questa sintesi prima dell'inizio del Capitolo, in modo da giungervi in sintonia con il 'sentire' della Famiglia saveriana. L’assemblea capitolare, poi, deciderà liberamente cosa farne, consapevole che è il frutto di un tempo prezioso di riflessione e ascolto reciproco. Qualche confratello commentava: sembra che il Capitolo sia già cominciato; lo stiamo facendo anche noi, con queste attività, …sinodalmente!

Speriamo che questo strumento possa essere un aiuto efficace per un fecondo CG. È san Giovanni che scrive: non sappiamo da dove viene questo Spirito… né dove va. L’esperienza di vulnerabilità e incertezza che stiamo vivendo, non impedisca alla nostra Famiglia, e in particolare al CG, di lasciare andare i piani e sogni del passato, abbracciare con speranza e coraggio i disegni dello Spirito Santo (un ‘nuovo’ futuro) evitando ogni pessimismo e lanciando ancora con generosità le reti del Vangelo anche oggi, nel tempo che ci accoglie.

Per maggiore chiarezza, prima della sintesi dei contributi, troverete il testo integrale di ogni Scheda Tematica, disponibili (in sei lingue) sul sito della DG e inviate a tutti i confratelli nel periodo da settembre 2022 a marzo 2023. Ad ogni scheda, segue poi la rispettiva sintesi delle riflessioni e proposte ricevute.

Synthesis Document

Dear confreres,

we publish the Synthesis Document elaborated by the Preparatory Committee of the XVIII General Chapter (GC). As described in the introduction, it is a tool that collects the reflections and proposals of individual confreres and communities of our missionary Family, starting from the materials sent to everyone, through the six Thematic Sheets, for personal study and community sharing. At the end of the Document, we also find the synthesis of the interventions that the members of the Xaverian Charismatic Family, the Xaverian sisters and the various laity, have sent us - through the Dear Chapter section.

The Document was already sent a few days ago to all the General Chapter Delegates. It is their responsibility and that of all of us to read this synthesis before the beginning of the Chapter, in order to arrive at it in harmony with the 'feeling' of the Xaverian Family. The Chapter assembly will then freely decide what to do with this synthesis, which is the result of a precious time of reflection and mutual listening. Some confreres commented: it seems that the Chapter has already begun; we too are doing it, with these activities, ... in a synodal way!

We hope this tool can be an effective helper for a fruitful CG. It is St. John who writes we do not know where this Spirit comes from... nor where it goes. The experience of vulnerability and uncertainty that we are living, does not prevent our Family, and in particular the GC, from letting go of the plans and dreams of the past, embracing the designs of the Holy Spirit with hope and courage (a 'new' future) avoiding all pessimism and still generously casting the nets of the Gospel even today, in the time that welcomes us.

For greater clarity, before the summary of the contributions, you will find the full text of each Thematic Sheet, available (in six languages) on the DG website and sent to all confreres in the period from September 2022 to March 2023. Each Thematic Sheet is followed by the respective synthesis of the reflections and proposals received.
