Xaverian Lay people in the Philippines (LXPH)
The Filipino Lay Xaverian (LXPH) is a new group that began during the Covid-19 pandemic. We started in September 2020 through the guidance of some Xaverian missionaries and with all the practical difficulties that the pandemic presented us with. However, we managed to organize a journey to get to know and embrace the Xaverian charism and ... here we are!
I can relate the group’s beginning to the iconic story of Jesus walking on water. The disciples were in a boat crossing the Sea of Galilee and in the evening the boat was tossed by waves due to strong winds. We were like the disciples in the boat being tossed by uncertainty and fear of embarking to a new mission that we have been called to. “During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came toward them walking on the sea” (Matthew 14:25). “At once, Jesus spoke to them: “Take courage it is I, do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27). Whenever we are in distress of how things will turn out, Jesus always comes at the right time when we need Him the most, tapping our shoulders and reminding us it is Him who is accompanying us in this the mission. We just need to master our courage, be not afraid and continue to sail. And in the end, we will bring all the glory back to Him, just like what the disciples did - they praised Him. “Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, “Truly, you are the Son of God”. (Matthew 14:33).
Through this power point presentation, we would like to share the wonderful journey that our group has experienced for the past two (2) years. Indeed, it was not easy, but Jesus accompanied us every time. We continue this missionary adventure with joy and enthusiasm, despite the several challenges that come from being new to this endeavor.
