1933 - 2023

Lunedì 16 gennaio 2023 alle ore 10 è deceduto al Pronto Soccorso dell’Ospedale di Parma - dove era stato trasferito domenica sera 15 gennaio 2023 - il nostro confratello p. Romano Didoné sx, membro della Comunità della Casa Madre – IV Piano. Aveva 89 anni compiuti, essendo nato a San Giorgio in Brenta di Fontaniva (provincia di Padova e diocesi di Vicenza), il 12 luglio 1933.

Dopo l’incontro con p. Oddo Galeazzi sx, nel 1944 il giovane Romano entra nella Casa saveriana di Vicenza, dove frequenta le scuole Medie (1944-1948). Il primo anno di Ginnasio (1948-1949) lo trascorre a Grumone, mentre il secondo anno lo segue a Zelarino-Mestre (1949-1950). Vive l’anno di Noviziato a San Pietro in Vincoli (1950-1951).

Dopo la prima professione religiosa e missionaria (emessa a S. Pietro in Vincoli il 12.10.1951), il giovane Romano continua con il consueto iter scolastico-formativo: liceo a Desio (1951-1954), prefettato a Cremona (1954-1955), teologia a Piacenza (1955-1958) e a Parma (1958-1959).

Viene ordinato Presbitero a Parma il 09 novembre 1958.

Finiti gli studi teologici, p. Romano viene destinato come insegnante alla Scuola Apostolica di Vicenza (1959-1967). In quegli anni è anche vicerettore della comunità (1963-1967). Dal 1967 al 1972 presta il suo servizio a Tavernerio (comunità liceale) come economo locale.

Dopo un anno di studio della lingua francese a Parigi, p. Romano parte per il Burundi dove – dopo lo studio della lingua Kirundi – presta il servizio di economo locale e viceparroco della comunità parrocchiale di Rumonge (1974-1977).

Richiamato in Italia, p. Romano è destinato alla Scuola Apostolica di Alzano L., prima come formatore (1977-1978) e poi come rettore della comunità (1978-1980). Nel 1980 viene destinato allo CSAM (Centro Saveriano Animazione Missionaria) di Parma dove lavora come amministratore (1980-1987) e, poi, come aiuto economo (1987-1992). Dal 1992 al 2015 è a Brescia (nuova sede del Centro Saveriano Animazione Missionaria) dove svolge vari servizi: Sostituto del Rettore (1992-2002; 2005-2008), Economo locale (1992-2009), ministero pastorale (2005-2015), incaricato dei Benefattori (2010-2015).

Per ragioni di salute, nel 2015 p. Romano viene destinato alla comunità del IV Piano di Parma.

“Leggo il tuo biglietto. Ti ringrazio tanto. Mai e poi mai mi sarei aspettato tanta gentilezza e tanta amicizia. Grazie per la tua bontà! E a te che cosa posso augurare?! Governerai bene se saprai ascoltare moltissimo. Credo che il “filtro” dello Spirito Santo passi attraverso ogni Saveriano. Ognuno di noi ci può aiutare. Un pochino, almeno. Il 15 gennaio 2023, a causa dell’aggravarsi della sua salute, p. Romano viene portato al Pronto Soccorso dell’Ospedale di Parma. Il 16 gennaio 2023 sale in Cielo per contemplare la Gloria dell’Altissimo e partecipare della vita eterna.

Fr. Romano Didoné

1933 - 2023

On Monday, January 16^th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. (local time), our confrere, 89-year-old member of the community of the Fourth Floor in the Mother House, Fr. Romano Didoné passed away in the Emergency Room of Parma Hospital, where he had been taken on the evening of Sunday, January 15^th. He was born in San Giorgio in Brenta di Fontaniva (province of Padua, diocese of Vicenza – Italy) on July 12^th, 1933.

In 1944, following an encounter with Fr. Oddo Galeazzi s.x., young Romano entered the Xaverian house in Vicenza, where he attended middle school (1944-1948). He spent the first year (1948-1949) of junior high school (gymnasium) in Grumone, while he would attend the second year in Zelarino, Mestre-Venice (1949-1950). He was in San Pietro in Vincoli (1950-1951) for the year of novitiate.

After his first missionary religious profession (San Pietro in Vincoli, October 12^th, 1951), young Romano underwent the then standard curriculum: college studies (lyceum) in Desio (1951-1954), prefect of students in Cremona (1954-1954), and theological studies in Piacenza (1955-1958) and Parma (1958-1959).

He was ordained priest in Parma on November 9^th, 1958.

Upon completing his theological studies, Fr. Romano was assigned to work as a teacher in the minor seminary (Scuola Apostolica) of Vicenza (1959-1967). In those years he became also vice rector of the community (1963-1967). From 1967 to 1972, he was at the service of the community (lyceum) in Tavernerio as its treasurer.

After one year for the study of French in Paris, Fr. Romano left for Burundi. There, after studying the Kirundi language, he carried out his service as local treasurer and vice pastor of the parish community in Rumonge (1974-1977).

Fr. Romano was then requested to return to Italy, where he was assigned to the minor seminary in Alzano Lombardo (Bergamo); he worked as formator (1977-1978) and rector of the community (1978-1980). In 1980, he was sent to CSAM (i.e., Xaverian centre for the promotion of missionary awareness) in Parma where he served as administrator (1980-1987) and, later, as assistant to the treasurer (1987-1992). From 1992 to 2015 he was in Brescia, where CSAM had been relocated, and where he carried out several types of service: deputy rector of the house (1992-2002; 2005-2008), local treasurer (1992-2009), pastoral ministry (2005-2015); person in charge of contacts with benefactors (2010-2015).

Due to health issues, in 2015, Fr. Romano was assigned to the community of the Fourth Floor in Parma.

“I’ve just read your card. Thank you so very much. I would have never expected so much attention and friendship. Thank you for your kindness. What can I wish you in return? You will rule well if you are able to listen a lot. I believe that the ‘voice’ of the Holy Spirit is filtered through that of each Xaverian. Each one of us can help us. At least, a little bit. On January 15^th, 2023, Fr. Romano’s health deteriorated. He was taken to the Emergency room of Parma Hospital. On January 16^th, he went up to Heaven to contemplate the Glory of the Most High and partake in life eternal.
